The Role

The Vice President, Controller will be a strategic and operational leader, owning critical financial processes and ensuring the integrity of Metropolis’ accounting operations. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this role will lead a high-performing team to drive financial excellence, compliance, and process optimization in a fast-paced, transformational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Operations: Lead financial close processes, revenue accounting (including SaaS), client reporting, contract compliance, cost allocation, and shared services (AR & AP)
  • Insights & Collaboration: Develop actionable financial insights and collaborate with FP&A to provide timely data to operators and executive management.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support corporate and business initiatives, including M&A, software implementations, and new business model integrations.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and manage a team, setting goals, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering professional development.
  • Process Optimization: Act as a change agent, implementing automation to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Compliance & Audits: Lead compliance activities, including annual external audits, SOX, and SOC-1, ensuring potential risks are communicated to leadership.
  • Transformation: Drive process improvements in a dynamic and high-growth environment. 

 Qualifications 

  • CPA certification with Big 4 or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a high-growth industry environment preferred
  • Proven expertise in M&A and post-merger integration.
  • Strong understanding of SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and IPO processes (preferred).
  • Experience with real estate, property management, payments, marketplaces, and Software/SaaS accounting.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-location accounting and reporting.
  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on streamlining financial close processes.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, fostering growth within teams.
  • Highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable to ambiguity and experimentation.
  • Strong communication skills, with a focus on clear organization and presentation.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining precision and accountability.

 

 

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows. The anticipated base salary for this position is $260,000.00 to $275,000.00 annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
