About the Role

As the User Research leader at Opendoor, you will shape how we understand and serve our customers while building the future of real estate. You'll work closely with Product, Design, and Business leaders to drive strategic insights that inform our product strategy and business decisions, as we reimagine home buying and selling. 

What You'll Do

  • Lead research strategy across Opendoor's products, conducting mixed-methods research to uncover deep insights about our users, opportunities, and product-market fit
  • Work across various product development stages – from early foundational research to concept testing, prototyping, and usability testing
  • Identify ways for us to improve our experience across all of our touchpoints, including digital tools, physical homes, customer service interactions, and our marketing
  • Synthesize complex data from multiple sources (qualitative and quantitative) to tell compelling stories that inspire and drive action
  • Build and implement research frameworks, tools, and processes that enable teams across the organization to conduct high-quality tactical research
  • Mentor product managers, designers, and other stakeholders in research methodologies, helping them become more effective advocates for our users

What You'll Need

  • 6+ years of experience conducting user research and/or market research
  • A track record of discovering, synthesizing, and socializing actionable insights that impact company-wide goals
  • A self-driven attitude and the initiative to identify research needs, set your own roadmap, and creatively solve problems
  • Expertise in mixed methods, with strong qualitative skills and the ability to conduct solid quantitative research with large sample sizes
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to frame insights into compelling narratives
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and build relationships across Product, Design, Engineering, Ops, and Marketing

Nice to have

  • Masters or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Sociology, Psychology, Information Science, Computer Science (or similar), or equivalent experience
  • Experience in real estate, fintech, or marketplace businesses
  • Experience being a solo researcher or building a research function from scratch
  • Experience building research capacity within organizations through training, mentorship, and development of scalable processes
  • Track record of building strong partnerships with data science and analytics teams

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several  U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The U.S. pay range for this position is $207,200-$259,000 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, 12 paid holidays per year, medical/dental/vision insurance, basic life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
