The Role

  • Design, develop, and implement statistical and machine learning models to predict competitive bidding landscape, click through rate, conversion/action rate, ad relevance to users.

  • Analyze data to identify useful relations, patterns and features that are predictive of user behaviors, preferences, intents, and interests.

  • Continuously identify and explore new and unconventional data sources.

  • Generate hypothesis and design effective online experiments to continuously iterate and improve on algorithm performance.

  • Take on unique modeling challenges of data sparsity, delayed feedback, as well as modeling in the context of privacy restrictions.

  • Work with engineering and operations teams to build systems and operational capabilities for implementing models and algorithms and monitor and evaluate their health and effectiveness in production.

  • Use strong communication skills (verbal and written) to explain statistical and machine learning concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Build systems that enable real-time recommendations for billions of ad requests daily.

  • Focus on the mobile app ecosystem, leverage and combine company’s enormous and unique datasets to model click rate, conversion rates, bid prices, win rates and post-install user lifetime values.

  • Match company content across tens of thousands of apps.

  • Develop models and algorithms behind our products, which help customers to maximize the value of users and the return on their ad spend.

  • Telecommuting is permitted. Employee may request to work from any city & county in the following states: CA, CO, ID, IL, GA, MA, MO, MN, NJ, NV, NY, OR, RI, TX, UT, WA.

  • Salary: $159,400 - $220,000 per year.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field, plus 3 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Machine Learning Research Scientist, or any occupation/position/job title involving statistical modeling, machine learning, and probability distributions.

    Must also have experience in the following: 3 years of professional experience performing conversion rate, return on ad spend (ROAS), and customer lifetime value (LTV) modeling for mobile applications; 3 years of professional experience formulating hypotheses, structuring experiments, and carrying through independent investigations; 3 years of professional experience connecting to data sources and prototyping data pipelines; 3 years of professional experience deploying effective machine learning (ML) models to production; 3 years of professional experience utilizing Python, SQL, and TensorFlow/PyTorch;  3 years of professional experience utilizing AWS (including Redshift and S3); 1 year of professional experience utilizing auction dynamics and bidding strategies; and 1 year of professional experience utilizing Bayesian statistics and modeling.

Liftoff's compensation strategy includes competitive market rate along with equity and benefits and perks that will give our employees what they need to do their best work. In order to ensure teams are compensated fairly for the work performed, we map out specific levels and take into consideration the cost of labor within each location. Liftoff provides employees a total compensation package of competitive market salaries, equity, health and wellness stipends, medical benefits associated with your country of residence. The base compensation will vary based on location, experience as well as level.
