We’re looking for a Sr Communications Manager who can help us continue to grow as the #1 credit-building app. Kikoff financial products have already helped hundreds of thousands of customers improve their credit scores; and with your help we can improve the financial lives of millions more.

You will be our first communications hire and define our PR strategy, KPIs, metrics, and initiatives with our cofounders and leadership. You will own media relations, shape press angles and releases, and build and shape Kikoff’s public awareness and perception. This is a full-time non-remote role based in our San Francisco headquarters.

What you can expect in this role:

  • Establish PR and communications as our first hire. Stand up and develop a strong media presence with both consumer and business media, measuring and improving favorability and share of voice.

  • Develop a comprehensive PR strategy and program and systematically secure coverage and shape our presence.

  • Prepare and coach Kikoff leaders and spokespersons for consumer-focused media appearances.

  • Own PR metrics measurement and grow them. Keep pulse on our awareness, sentiment, perception, consumer trends and competitor activities and share of voice and dive into what drives those metrics and improve them over time. 

  • Spot and leverage cultural trends to highlight Kikoff’s relevance and capabilities

  • Manage proactive media relations endeavors, securing impactful coverage in top-tier consumer, lifestyle, and mainstream media across print, digital, and broadcast channels

  • Work closely with Product, Partnerships, Marketing, Legal, and other team members to develop cohesive and compelling PR campaigns.

  • Preempt crisis before they happen - but quickly manage them if something still happens.

What will help make you successful:

  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in communications, with a strong focus on consumer products or technology. 

  • Proven track record of delivering results.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, prioritization, and speed of execution. 

  • Strong ability to maintain and foster media relationships. Bonus for having established relevant relationships already.

  • Ability to craft compelling stories, refine messaging through iteration, and inspire teams with clear and passionate storytelling and exceptional writing.

  • Adept at aligning stakeholders across diverse teams with competing priorities to ensure cohesive execution of PR strategies.

  • Deep understanding of consumer behavior and cultural trends in the space with an ability to match our product into the current narrative. 

  • Culturally savvy, curious, and agile in fast-paced environments, constantly innovating while staying true to the brand identity.

💰 US salary range for this full-time position consists of base + equity + benefits

Our salary ranges are determined by role and experience:

$135k - $190k base + equity
