Cloudflare is growing year over year. We expand our platform and we continuously release new capabilities, features and functionalities to meet our customer demands. To match our pace of innovation, we have Specialist Solution Engineers (SSEs) that support our customers and our field Solution Engineers teams, with a specific focus on individual solution areas (Application Services, Developer Services, Network Services and Zero Trust Services).
These Specialist SEs are deep subject matter experts in their area of expertise. For this team we are looking for a leader to develop and build out the team even further to support our growth ambitions.
What you'll do as a Solutions Engineer Manager
As a Solutions Engineering Manager at Cloudflare, you'd be part of a diverse group of technically minded folks working together to bring our technology to our customers.
You will report to the Sr Manager of Specialist Solution Engineering and you will own the performance and development of the Specialist Solution Engineers on your team with accountability for Team Development, Operational Diligence, and Partnership with Sales to drive positive outcomes of customer opportunities.
To aid your team, you will work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product, through to Engineering, Customer Success, and Customer Support teams. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organization as you seek out and advise your team on how to create scalable solutions for your customer's needs.
On the Solutions Engineering team, you will find a collaborative environment where everyone brings different strengths and jumps in to help each other and you will be an integral part of driving that culture.
Specifically, we are looking for you to:
- Build and lead your team with clarity, authority and empathy.
- Create an environment of psychological safety, where collaboration is expected and encouraged and where innovation and creativity thrives.
- Articulate and demonstrate the execution of your team vision and strategy while fostering team collaboration.
- Report on operational progress including opportunities, demo and POC activity.
- Be focused on coaching and developing your team for both functional and technical skills.
- Exemplify and support the navigation of technical sales by partnering with your peers in Sales Leadership, engaging with your team on opportunities to drive technical proof points, owning and bringing customer escalations to positive resolutions.
- Represent Solution Engineering locally, building relationships with key business partners and stakeholders.
- This will include peer SE Leaders, Sales Leadership, Product, Support, Engineering.
- Use these relationships to ensure the success of Cloudflare and our Customers.
- Participation in internal organization projects for innovation and growing the Pre-Sales organization.
- You will take care of new team members and you will ensure work loads are equally distributed within the team.
- Exemplify and cultivate positive culture traits.
- Conduct 1:1's with team members.

- You are personable and can provide constructive feedback when necessary.
- You will help escalate and identify issues quickly and efficiently and you will work with the other managers and the regional lead to ensure proper regional coordination.

- Demonstrable experience in coaching, leadership skills, and team management of mid-market and public sector SE organizations.
- Demonstrable experience in navigating technical sales cycles.
- Demonstrable experience in understanding and solving escalations, team issues or other management related scenarios.
- Cultivate cross SE team/office coordination, keep us all connected as one team.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer between SE teams
- Cultivate a very open communication environment. Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
- For Colorado and Texas based: Estimated annual salary of $203,000.00 to $249,000.00
- For New York City, Washington, DC Metro and California based (excluding Bay Area): Estimated annual salary of $207,000.00 to $253,000.00
- For San Francisco Bay Area based hires: Estimated annual salary of $218,000.00 to $266,000.00
Equity
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
