Reports to: Head of Creative Strategy, User Training

Location: Remote US

Compensation Range: $120,000 to $140,000 base plus bonus and equity

What We Do:

Founded in 2015 as a fully remote company by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress was built on a simple premise: to force hackers to earn every inch of their access.

Today’s cyber-attacks aren’t limited to large organizations with the security tools that can ward off threats. Hackers don't discriminate and will find a way to penetrate any vulnerability in any size business, which is why Huntress focuses on protecting those small to midsize businesses that make up the backbone of our economy.

Huntress stops hidden threats that sneak past preventive security tools by utilizing our award-winning security platform and expert human threat hunters through dynamic products including Managed EDR, MDR for Microsoft 365, and Managed Security Awareness Training.

Join the hunt and help us stop hackers in their tracks!

What You’ll Do:

We're seeking a creative and engaging Learning Experience Writer to join our Security Awareness product team. In this role, you'll be responsible for crafting compelling narratives, scripts, and additional educational content for our episodic security awareness training. Your contributions will educate people about cybersecurity best practices in a delightful and memorable way, ultimately contributing to a stronger security culture for the 99%.

You might’ve had titles like instructional designer, learning experience designer, curriculum developer, educational designer, e-learning developer, instructional content creator, curriculum writer, or something similar. Whatever you call yourself, you know that making learning fun and engaging is the best way to make it stick.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging scripts: Write clear, friendly, and informative scripts for animated security awareness training videos
  • Translate technical information: You’ll need to take sometimes difficult-to-understand topics and ideas and write them in a more approachable and easy-to-understand way
  • Maintain a consistent voice: Establish and adhere to a defined brand voice and tone for the episodic series, ensuring continuity across episodes
  • Collaborate with the team: Work closely with the Head of Creative Strategy, production artists, animators, and subject matter experts to bring your scripts to life, ensure accuracy of information, and create compelling content
  • Incorporate storytelling techniques: Utilize storytelling principles to create engaging narratives that resonate with learners and promote knowledge retention
  • Stay up-to-date: Remain current on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends to ensure training content is relevant and timely
  • Script revisions: Be prepared to revise scripts based on feedback from stakeholders and incorporate changes iteratively, effectively, and rapidly
  • Meet deadlines: Deliver high-quality scripts within established project timelines

What You Bring To The Team:

  • 5+ years of experience in learning content writing, preferably for animation or instructional video content
  • Familiarity with instructional design models like Action Mapping, ADDIE, SAM, and MPI, etc. and when to use them
  • The ability to convey complex information and business risk clearly and concisely, making it understandable, digestible, and fun for a wide audience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in working within an iterative process and motivation to give and receive group feedback
  • Comfortable working in a high-growth environment, able to adjust priorities as business needs change
  • Familiarity with assessing learning outcomes and measuring learner success
  • An online portfolio of previous work is required for this position
  • Cybersecurity experience preferred
  • Strong familiarity with educational psychology is preferred
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards for written and educational content is preferred

What We Offer:

  • 100% remote work environment - since our founding in 2015
  • Generous paid time off policy, including vacation, sick time, and paid holidays
  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave
  • Highly competitive and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits plans
  • 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution
  • Life and Disability insurance plans
  • Stock options for all full-time employees
  • One-time $500 reimbursement for building/upgrading home office
  • Annual allowance for education and professional development assistance
  • $75 USD/month digital reimbursement
  • Access to the BetterUp platform for coaching, personal, and professional growth

Huntress is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity where every single member of our team is valued, has a voice, and is empowered to come to work every day just as they are.

We do not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status, or any other legally protected status.
