Location: Remote but live in one of the Advocate Health markets (IL, WI, GA, NC)
Must be able to travel within the Advocate service areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the IT infrastructure roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology advancements.
- Provide technical leadership for infrastructure teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Partner with cloud, security, networking, and application teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure services.
- Manage budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts to optimize costs and performance.

Server Engineering & Operations
- Oversee server infrastructure (physical and virtual) across on-premises environments.
- Ensure high availability and performance of enterprise systems through proactive monitoring and optimization.
- Lead capacity planning, patching, automation, and lifecycle management of server environments.
- Establish and enforce best practices for server security, compliance, and governance.
Storage & Backup/Recovery Management
- Design and maintain enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, object storage) to support business needs.
- Implement backup and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
- Manage storage capacity, performance, and cost efficiency across on-premises platforms.
- Lead business continuity planning, including RTO (Recovery Time Objectives) and RPO (Recovery Point Objectives).
Operational Excellence & Automation
- Implement automation, orchestration, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for efficient infrastructure management.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and observability frameworks for proactive issue resolution.
- Drive adoption of DevOps and SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices to improve system resilience.
- Define and track KPIs and SLAs to measure operational efficiency and service delivery.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
Technical Expertise
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering and operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience with server engineering & virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, etc.).
- Proficiency in enterprise storage solutions (NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of backup & disaster recovery solutions (Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik, etc.).
- Ability to partner effectively with cloud teams to ensure seamless hybrid infrastructure operations.
- Familiarity with automation & configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, etc.).
Leadership Skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams, driving collaboration and performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to executives.
- Experience managing budgets, vendor contracts, and procurement.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, enterprise environment with complex infrastructure requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications: AWS/Azure/GCP certifications, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), ITIL, or PMP.
- Background in high-availability architectures and performance tuning.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Exposed to a normal office environment.

Pay Range
$73.90 - $118.25
