Title:  Director, Business Development (S4) 

Location: Remote US 

Reports to: SVP Business Development & Client Services 

 

The Role:   

The Director, Business Development is responsible for the business development functions within their assigned set of accounts through the identification, solutioning and closing of new business opportunities.  The Director, Business Development is responsible for creating and nurturing professional relationships within an assigned set of clients.  This individual will help our clients identify and define their operating challenges and facilitate the outline and development of solution concepts and/or products from within our existing offering. Working with our Delivery Units/Practice Areas to assist and oversee the delivery of our suite of offerings and solutions, they will also be responsible for all contract management with these clients.  This includes the creation of SOWs, Change Requests, Order Confirmations and Master Service Agreements or Master License Service Agreements along with all renewals of such agreements. 

 
The Impact You Will Have in This Role: 

The transition to Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and alternative fuel vehicles is forecast to more than double by 2030.  The amount of new OEM’s (including manufacturers from outside the US) forecasted to bringing offerings to the North American Market over this time-period will require high quality products and data.  J.D. Power is uniquely positioned to help drive the electric future forward.  This role will be responsible for helping new OEM’s enter the market and thrive.  This position will utilize the large product offerings of J.D. Power to ensure the success of these OEM’s.  This will include helping with go-to-market strategy, in-market strategy and future sales/product development. 

What You’ll Be Doing in This Role: 

  • Expand the business and build the revenue base within an assigned set of clients 
  • Responsible for sourcing, developing and nurturing relationships within our target client accounts and use current contacts, cold calling and networking to generate new contacts for the company 
  • Complete and/or support responses to RFI, RFP, and RFQ’s 
  • Manage day-to-day client interactions including client expectation, monitor and manage customer satisfaction 
  • Build a knowledge base of each client's business, organization and objectives 
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue, reduce costs and maintain business goals 
  • Manage services and financials in accordance to established timeframes, pricing and scope 
  • Drive client reviews, meetings and presentations/studies 
  • Negotiate and close new sales opportunities 
  • Understand client needs and design strategies and solutions 
  • Gather client business and learning objectives and identify key measures, approaches and methodologies for measuring success against the objectives 
  • Be a leader/expert and demonstrate an advanced knowledge in the services we provide and the Automotive industry (OEM, Dealers) 
  • Attend industry forums and functions as a representative of the Company and a subject matter expert 
  • Present/speak/write as a representative of the company and subject matter expert 

 Qualifications of this Role:  

  • Demonstrable experience in the auto industry, preferably at the OEM level. 
  • Strong industry connection/network in Direct to Consumer EV.
  • Significant knowledge in the BEV, PHEV and Hybrid space.
  • Understanding of both Direct to Consumer models (DTC) and current Dealer model.
  • Domestic Travel-25% Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to consult with clients to help them analyze and define creative solutions/concepts preferably at the executive level.
  • Well-developed communication skills with ability to develop and maintain excellent personal and professional relationships with clients. 
  • Adept ability to present to small and large audiences ranging from C suite down.
  • Ability to present technical data in a business-friendly and user-friendly language. 
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities with an aptitude to interpret data and apply it to real world problem solving. 
  • Manage and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external teams. 
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office with an above average competency for creating and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
  • Advanced user skills of Salesforce.
  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
