Job Description

As director software engineering, you get to lead the engineering teams in charge of the "end to end" ServiceNow CMDB (Configuration Management DataBase). This encompasses the CMDB itself, a highly sophisticated identification and reconciliation engine that powers the data ingestion process, and the ServiceNow Service Graph Connector technology that ingests data into the CMDB from popular cloud and noncloud 3th party sources such as AWS, MS Azure, JAMF, Dynatrace, Apigee, Intune etc
ServiceNow's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is a centralized "single source of truth" repository designed to store and manage information about all assets an organization has in use and visualizes dependencies and relationships across components. Our larger customers populate the CMDB with several 100millions of Configuration Items - and growing. Our customers have access to hundreds of applications in our ServiceNow store that operate on top of the ServiceNow CMDB. The CMDB is at the heart of all these ServiceNow applications and is without doubt a mission critical component of the Now platform for our customers.
As director of software engineering, you will provide thought leadership and mentoring to the various teams in the CMDB domain, work with internal and external stakeholders to define and set the right priorities with the customer-first in mind, and relentlessly drive innovation to ensure our CMDB remains the market leader for scalability, performance, robustness and resilience. You will set, track and report on milestones and success criteria for our various software releases in line with the platform and application release processes. You will personally drive some key company OKRs and execute on an action plan to reach and exceed the key result targets.
You will work with your direct team managers in the United States and in Ireland to translate engineering goals into execution plans in line with the company and business needs. Your entire team consists of 35+ engineers and several engineering managers located in the US, Ireland and India. You will report to the senior director of Data Foundations.
Qualifications

  • Have 10+ years of engineering management experience covering application development, architecture and production support for highly complex enterprise level products
  • Have proven experience in managing multi-cultural and diverse engineering teams across multiple locations
  • Having experience with other CMDB technologies, ETL and enterprise integration technologies is a plus
  • Having experience with developing and embedding genAI based services and capabilities is a plus
  • Are a smart, enthusiastic and inspiring leader who can look beyond today's problems to find tomorrow's solutions.
  • Can communicate a compelling vision and need for change that generates excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the process
  • Understand the business case for each deliverable undertaken and works with product owners to help ensure benefits are realized
  • Are proficient in planning, communication and presentation skills, and the capability to listen and influence.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, proven track record of building strong relationships and establishing credibility at all levels of the organization
  • Can do' attitude and sense of ownership to thrive in a fast-paced environment
