Summary Generated by Built In

Are you someone who's got drive, strong professional ethics, intense skills of analysis, brass tacks for tactical solutioning, and a desire to build things with smart people? Do people think you have good judgement? Are you always coming up with a plan and making things better? Do you know when to use duct tape and when to use automation? Are you underrated?

Then we're looking for you.

As BizOps, you will drive initiatives of top priority for our two cofounders, the CEO and CTO, and the leadership team. You'll scope new opportunities, diagnose metrics that have gone awry, provide research and recommendations, and unblock the scaling of key objectives within the company.

What makes you the right fit for Biz Ops? First, you're used to working with really smart, multidisciplinary people, either because you're intensely curious or you've been surrounded by smart people before. You have serious proof of internal drive – either from your time balancing athletics with a full course loan, finishing major initiatives like getting your four year degree in two years, or setting an intense multiyear achievement and completing it. You're an open person, receptive to feedback, new ideas, and asymmetric risks. You're a good communicator – organized, prioritized, and not afraid to bring awareness to new challenges surfacing in a rapidly scaling team and product.

What might you work on? Operating plan scenario analysis for key drivers of concern by finance; exploring new business models and monetization potential with the product team; creating a staffing model for the customer support, dissecting and mitigating fraud with our data scientists; improving P&L by finding new vendors to save costs; plugging in operations holes for new product initiatives; managing partners and bootstrapping new business contacts for new products where relevant; and driving project completion on key projects hitting road blocks.

This role is a full-time, exempt role; located onsite in our San Francisco office in FiDi.

  • Modeling and scenario planning - work closely with the product team to develop models identifying key inputs, leading indicators, and outputs of a product to drive decision making

  • Project management and execution - Bring clarity to a constantly evolving, ambiguous environment by developing and implementing project plans that identify gaps and solutions helping cross-functional teams coordinate and communicate

  • Operational excellence - Add firepower to initiatives of strategic importance across the entire organization including Talent/People Ops, Operations, Product

  • Fast and flexible adaptability - Establish a beachhead quickly and create a playbook that will be filled in as we expand our talented team from sub-fifty to hundreds

  • Product/feature launches - Collaborate closely with teams across the organization including Operations, Product, Design, and Engineering to identify and clear blockers to ensure an on-time product or feature launch

  • Strong quantitative modeling skills combined with a keen business acumen. Can take an abstract business concept and break it down into core components and model out the dependencies and relationships between them. Extremely proficient with Excel.

  • Telescopic mindset - you’re able to zoom out to see the big picture and strategize with stakeholders and zoom in to roll up your sleeves and meticulously execute in a constantly changing environment

  • Takes the initiative and is resourceful to dive deep into unfamiliar subject matter to gain a working knowledge to take a task and run with it.

  • Organized and an excellent communicator. Able to direct communications and direct traffic between the stakeholder swim lanes of responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed.

  • 2+ years in investment banking, strategy consulting at a top firm (MBB), or business operations at a high standards company

This is a consumer fintech startup, and you will be working with serial entrepreneurs who have built strong consumer brands and innovative products. We are backed by some of Silicon Valley’s top VCs, including GGV capital, Lightspeed Ventures, Female Founders Fund, and others. We value extreme ownership, clear communication, a strong sense of craftsmanship, and the desire to create lasting work and work relationships.
