E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

As our Mechanical Process Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating tooling systems for our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with our Manufacturing Engineer to create tooling that enables efficient, high-quality production of satellite components.

This position is based in Arlington, TX or Saratoga, CA. In order to be successful in this role, you must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. Occasional travel may be required as well.

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop tool maintenance procedures and schedules
  • Modify and optimize tooling based on process trials
  • Support process development and pilot production
  • Implement tool monitoring and control systems
  • Design fixturing for secondary operations and finishing

What you will bring to this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Tool Design or related field)
  • 4+ years of experience in composite tooling design and development or similar fields (Injection Molding, Hot Pressing, Roll To Roll Processes, Battery Manufacturing etc.)
  • Experience with composite tooling preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD software for tool design
  • Knowledge of tool materials and fabrication methods for composites
  • Understanding of composite molding processes (e.g RTM, Autoclave, Press)
  • Experience with tool validation and qualification
  • Knowledge of GD&T and dimensional control
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication abilities

Extra points for the following:

  • Experience with aerospace or satellite component tooling
  • Experience with heated tool systems
  • Background in designing tools for high-precision components
  • Understanding of composite material behavior during processing
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and hydraulics.

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that’s your experience – then we’ll be immediately wow-ed.

E-Space is not currently able to provide employment sponsorship for candidates who do not hold work authorization for the location of this role.
