The Technical Accounting Associate Director is a critical role to support our Finance organization who will perform technical accounting analysis and influence our accounting policies. Ideal candidates should possess the demonstrated expertise in the specialized fields of technical accounting. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting.


This is a hybrid position requiring a mix of 2 days onsite in Menlo Park, CA and work from home. You must live within a commutable distance.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with Management on complex technical accounting matters involved in developing the company’s position on complex, significant, unique, and judgmental accounting topics including preparation of the related technical accounting memos
  • Research technical accounting issues, document and present conclusions to Management
  • Proactively monitor current accounting and reporting trendsLead the Company’s efforts to implement new or revised accounting pronouncements
  • Prepare, review and deliver timely accurate internal and external accounting/reporting documents and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP
  • Adhere to internal and external review and filing deadlines, including tracking and communication of status
  • Support annual audit and quarterly reviews, including preparing analytical review documents, to ensure timely and efficient fulfillment of all requestsLead and participate in special projects as necessary
  • Lead and participate in special projects as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 12 years of highly technical accounting experience in a mix of medium to large publicly-listed companies and a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, with an active US CPA certification.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP with experience in reporting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead complex projects which require influence and implementation across business groups and functions.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience applying Statement of Cash Flow (ASC 230), Stock Compensation (ASC 718), Intangibles - Goodwill and Other (ASC 350), Leases (ASC 842), Revenue Recognition (ASC 606), Business Combination (ASC 805), and Internal-use software (ASC 350-40). 
  • Ability to coordinate with internal teams and other third-party consultants on critical accounting and reporting projects.
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough with the desire for continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to effectively manage critical deadlines.
  • Must be a "self-starter" with a can-do attitude and motivation to have a positive impact on our company.
  • Track record of performance in a face-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong day-to-day project management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Workiva, Floqast, and Intelligize is a plus

The expected, full-time, annual base pay scale for this position is $159K-$199K.  Actual base pay will consider skills, experience, and location.


Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
