Waymo's Systems Engineering team works together to blend software and hardware systems in groundbreaking new ways. We set the high performance standards that ensure our vehicles run smoothly and keep passengers safe, then design and perform the tests that validate that performance. We're looking for talented teammates who'll help us maintain strong teamwork and are passionate about driving results.
In this hybrid role, you will report to a Systems Engineering Manager.
You will:
- Own test campaigns to expand the test coverage of the collision avoidance testing framework.
- Design automated infrastructure to monitor test quality and process test results.
- Write software-based metrics to measure AV performance and test quality
- Lead partner teams to design processes to improve test collection, design and quality.
- Collaborate with software engineers and systems engineers to monitor software performance and identify areas for improvement.
You have:
- Coding knowledge in at least one of the following: SQL, Python, C, C++, or other querying or data management languages
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or related field (e.g., Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace, etc.).
- Basic understanding of end-to-end system testing practices & principles
- Strong curiosity to understand the "why" & drive to constantly improve
We prefer:
- Experience with autonomous vehicles or other autonomous systems
- Experience with full vehicle simulation-based testing
- Experience creating, executing & iterating on large scale test campaigns to sign off service to millions of users
- Experience reporting to management & leadership team members at least L+1 above current ladder

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
