The Apps team, within Platform Ecosystem, empowers external developers to build creative and diverse experiences for our users. Millions of people use apps on Discord every day to play games with friends, manage communities, listen to music, and so much more. What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborate with leadership and senior engineers to build and improve upon the technical roadmap for Discord’s Developer Platform.
- Work with the Apps team within Platform Ecosystem to build & maintain SDKs, APIs, UI/UX and other platform services
- Collaborate with other staff engineers and partners across the organization to ensure technical understanding to other systems, products, and vision
- Improvements to features, tools and workflows that empowers public developers to create and configure the latest apps, bots and activities features
- Collaborate with design, product and other engineers to introduce new features used by our 200M+ monthly active users
- Participate at all levels of ideation, implementation and release
- Have a genuine say in the details, and have fun doing it!
What you should have
- 7+ years full-stack experience. We're a multi-platform team, so it's important to understand the development frameworks and fundamentals of our web platform (React, TypeScript) and backend (Python and a little bit of Rust).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well cross-functionally.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and get excited about working collaboratively to better define complex problems, figure out solutions, and then execute on them.
- Act as a problem-solver, not just a developer. Participate at all levels of ideation, implementation and release.
- A sense of ownership. You believe in solving a problem completely rather than simply shipping a solution. You can operate autonomously.
- You actively seek out opportunities to mentor, coach, and sponsor other engineers in their career growth.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $223,000 to $245,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
