About the role

The Partner Services & Tools team provides seamless help to our external partners and internal stakeholders, ensuring an exceptional experience for all Crunchyroll fans.

We create services and tools that are focused on helping our Partners around the world integrate, test, and deploy the Crunchyroll applications and games quickly and with the highest levels of quality.  We do this with tools and infrastructure that optimize the developer experience.  We tie it all together with sophisticated automated testing and productivity solutions designed to support our culture of experimentation, autonomy and ownership. Our goal is to focus on delivering the best possible anime fan experience. We are looking for a creative and highly motivated individual who is excited to take on challenging projects and help drive the future of developer productivity tools.  To be successful in this role, you must have a strong technical background in product development.

You will:

  • Build services & APIs with an eye on maintainability and reliability to help deliver productivity and test solutions.
  • You will be creating high-quality products, and forming close work partnerships with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
  • You’ll be a part of the team chartered with building company-wide tools for the entire workforce and will partner with your peers to execute and deliver on the broader strategy and vision
  • You'll design, develop, and maintain products, infrastructure, and integrations with third-party and other teams’ services
  • You will collaborate effectively with myriad teams and communicate technical ideas persuasively
  • Design/ architect, develop, test, deploy, and operate fully integrated solutions across build/buy that provide seamless end-to-end product experiences
  • Collaborate extremely effectively with product managers, designers, other engineers, stakeholders, and vendors on projects within the team and across all of Crunchyroll.
  • Identify and build innovative solutions that improve our understanding of the quality of the TV streaming applications and Mobile games.
  • Tell the quality story of our product through improved observability, alerting, dashboarding, and tools
  • Set direction and build consensus to drive long-term positive impact on the engineering ecosystem
  • Evangelize and drive adoption of software development best practices in code health, quality and test stability through frameworks and information sharing, not rules and process

In the role of Staff Partner Engineer, Data & Services, you will report to the Senior Director, Partner Services and Tools.

We are considering applicants for the location(s) of San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Dallas, TX, or US-Remote.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • You have extensive experience with AWS cloud platform and their related services (e.g. Route53, S3, Lamda, SNS, ECS)
  • You have extensive experience developing and securing internal and external services.
  • Proficiency in infrastructure as code frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation).
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript/Node, Python)
  • Strong understanding of SQL (e.g. Redshift, Snowflake, RDS) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB) and Graph databases (e.g., GraphDB, Neptune, Neo4j)
  • You have experience with different authentication/authorization systems (OAuth2, Cognito, FusionAuth, Okta)
  • You have experience with CDN services (e.g. Cloudfront, Cloudflare)
  • You have experience with search optimization, including schema design and query tuning.
  • You’re able to independently own and execute projects while effectively collaborating with the team to influence and shape the vision of the service engineering organization.
  • You can work effectively asynchronously with remote teams across multiple time zones
  • You bring knowledge of developing and managing developer test tools, as well as expertise in utilizing the latest technologies and tools will be essential
  • You possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other engineers, product managers and product designers.
