About The Role & Team

Session Replay is Amplitude’s first foray into the bigger space of experience analytics - combining quantitative and qualitative insights to gain deeper understanding of customer behavior. Session Replay allows customers to watch playback videos of their users on their products or website. The Session Replay team at Amplitude helps customers more easily understand the “why” behind the metrics they’re analyzing and gain more confidence to take faster action, by enabling them to effortlessly move from the macro quantitative picture to the micro user session experience. Connecting session replays to Amplitude’s quantitative charts allows customers to quickly and intuitively hypothesize and understand the cause of a change in customer behavior.

We are looking for a Staff Product Engineer to help us:

  • Continue to scale our new session replay offering by building new high impact product features like heat maps: helping customers put the quantitative insights they get in Amplitude into qualitative context
  • Drive the technology roadmap for integrating new forms of qualitative data into our entire product platform
  • Lead the architectural design for new UI features and SDKs

The team is fast moving and you will be expected to iterate quickly and own, drive and achieve cross-team alignment on technical design tradeoffs for the short, medium and long term.

As a Staff Product Engineer you will:

  • Contribute and develop ownership around the front-facing parts of the system including our application frontend and our SDKs, collaborating with backend engineers of multiple skill levels to create a holistic system.
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the team, product, and systems.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product and design teams to tackle the most important customer needs, craft creative user experiences, and deliver on ambitious timelines.
  • Lead engineering discussions and mentor others on engineering best practices.

You’ll be a great fit if you:

  • Have 8+ years of experience working in a product, front end or SDK engineering role.
  • Enjoy working in a technical leadership role on an engineering team.
  • Enjoy building UIs with modern tools like Babel and ES6, React and Redux, Webpack and Typescript.
  • Have experience deploying, scaling, and managing high traffic web applications.
  • Pride yourself in your excellent attention to detail and your design and UX sensibilities.
  • Value cross-functional collaboration and clear communication.
  • Experience working full-stack or managing a client SDK is a big plus
