The Core Analytics Team is responsible for delivering analytics, data products, and insights across all of Datadog. We support various business functions, including Go-to-Market, Strategy, Customer Success, Community, Product Management, and Engineering.

As a Staff Engineer, you will drive and collaborate on projects spanning the entire scope of Core Analytics. You will make key technical decisions related to data pipeline creation, data modeling, storage, and governance tooling.

You’ll also partner with other organizations such as DNA Platform and AI Platform, to support cross-organizational initiatives, including feature stores, model evaluation, data pipelines, and governance.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design and implement high-value, high-visibility projects, navigating ambiguity and guiding other engineers.

  • Provide technical leadership across one or more areas of the platform.

  • Lead and mentor engineers through architectural and platform decisions.

  • Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability, and design solutions to address them.

  • Contribute to prioritization of engineering-led initiatives in both short-term and long-term planning and roadmaps.

Who You Are:

  • You have a BS/MS/PhD in a Computer Science, Engineering or related scientific field or equivalent professional experience

  • You have led cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment for several years.

  • You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where performance, cost efficiency, ease of use, and resilience/operability are first-order concerns.

  • You have significant back-end programming experience and have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at a high scale.

  • You enjoy mentoring and coaching other engineers to become even stronger.

  • Experienced in building and high volume and reliable data pipelines for real customers in production systems

  • Fluent in several programming languages (JVM & otherwise)

  • Skilled in wrangling huge amounts of data and enjoy exploring new data sets

  • Someone who values code simplicity and performance

  • Interested in working in a fast-paced, high growth environment that respects its engineers and customers

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

Benefits and Growth:

  • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)

  • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing

  • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
