Job Description Summary:

The Sr. Software Product Engineer – Data Science role operates within SOLV’s Digital Solutions group, working with stakeholders and developers to deliver analytic-heavy features within our custom software systems. This role owns requirements definition, product strategy and design, and project coordination. Communication, ability to work with complex systems and data sets, and problem solving are necessary skills to succeed in this role.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Achieve an expert level understanding of how our custom software systems are designed, integrated with other business platforms, and utilized

  • Collaborate within Digital Solutions to define and evolve product strategy

  • Assist in building the custom software roadmap according to product strategy, prioritized business/client needs, and resource availability

  • Take a leading role in feature development lifecycle: establish and adhere to project timelines, gather input to construct requirement deliverables, prototype, interface with the software team, participate in verification and validation testing, approve and communicate feature releases, support incremental improvements, and assist with technical documentation, process change, and training as needed

  • Play a significant role in design and prototyping of new features/systems: perform data inspection, ascertain viability, evaluate surrounding processes, collaborate with stakeholders to define process improvements, create requirements diagrams and documentation, design UIUX (incl. complex data visualization), and if applicable create prototypes to facilitate design process

  • Determine root causes of process issues and provide actionable insights

  • Keep pace with evolving field hardware: PV and BESS systems and sensors; collaborate with SCADA team and Developers to maintain and enhance feature support

  • Contribute to solar performance statistical analyses and definition of reporting capabilities and needs; design data-heavy visualizations and features for a wide range of users

  • Adhere to the team’s development workflow and contribute to its continuous improvement

  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of the in-application manual as well as other team documentation

  • Ensure the team’s software solutions are meeting business goals and users' needs

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technology field

  • 5+ years of engineering experience, including significant experience with a language such as Python, Rust, C/C++/C#, R, TypeScript; exposure to sensor data preferred

  • 3+ years of software product engineering experience, including business process engineering

  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex systems on the job and devise creative solutions

  • Demonstrated programming, data analytics, data visualization, and UI/UX design experience

  • Experience using collaborative tools including but not limited to Git, Jira, Confluence, Lucidchart, and Slack

Compensation Range:

$130,000.00 - $150,000.00
