What’s the role?  

This position will lead efforts to enhance the long-term quality and reliability of XRM products. The selected candidate will be accountable for implementing various components of the Quality Management System (QMS), which includes, but is not limited to, overseeing new product introductions, coordinating compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (such as the CE Mark), managing all facets of supplier quality, internal quality management, inspections, conducting audits, and driving improvements within the QMS. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for managing QMS improvement projects as assigned. The candidate will collaborate with both internal teams and suppliers. Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Develop long-term plans aimed at improving quality within internal manufacturing operations and with suppliers.
  • Perform root cause analyses on nonconformities related to parts, products, processes, and other issues as required by business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support the launch of new products (NPI) or to improve existing offerings.
  • Perform as well as provide guidance, mentorship, and project management oversight to XRM personnel regarding ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) processes and various quality tools and methodologies, including but not limited to FMEA, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Analyze data to identify areas for potential improvement.
  • Develop documentation compliant with ISO 9001:2015 standards, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions.
  • Conduct gap analyses and create action plans to address any identified weaknesses.
  • Carry out internal and supplier/external audits to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, while also supporting the audit activities.
  • Supervise inspection processes for parts, components, assemblies, finished products, and any other items as required by business needs.
  • Maintain detailed records for various components of the Quality Management System.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Do you qualify?

  • BA or BS degree in a technical field, MS preferred
  • 5+ years of industry experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and experience with applicable laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., CE Mark, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, RoHS, etc.)
  • Six Sigma (e.g., black belt) preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Statistical software like Minitab
  • Experience working with suppliers to implement part quality improvements
  • Experience with imaging systems a plus
  • Good computer skills including proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Presentation etc.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively contribute to a team environment
  • Ability to evaluate technical specifications and drawings
  • Ability to learn new software applications and processes as required
  • Ability to handle the fast-paced, ever-changing demands of a growing high-tech company

The annual pay range for this position is $130,000 – $163,000The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.  ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
