Join the Media Systems Engineering team as a Media Systems Engineer at the stunningly remodeled Presidio campus in San Francisco. We are seeking a dedicated individual to support Industrial Light & Magic / Lucasfilm technology. This is an outstanding opportunity to get exposed to a wide variety of technology at our prestigious and high-end facility.
What You'll Do
Frontline Maintenance and Problem Solving:
- Address technical issues involving both consumer-grade and professional AV equipment.
- Maintain specific AV equipment including Video routers, enterprise KVM matrix, signal distribution equipment, video monitors, AV control systems, motion capture equipment, video playback workstations, AV streaming technology, etc!
- Use video scopes, audio meters, fiber test kits, and network analyzers to troubleshoot and resolve signal flow issues.
Installation and Deployment:
- Install and commission various AV and computer equipment across different technical and operational departments within ILM and Lucasfilm.
- Assist with rack-mounting computer and AV equipment in server rooms.
- Perform wiring tasks including crimping, soldering, and labeling AV cables (e.g., BNCs and XLRs).
- Calibrate consumer monitors.
Ticket Updates and Documentation:
- Create and update support tickets in Jira and Zendesk.
- Make and maintain documentation related to new projects and infrastructure changes.
- Provide technical operational assistance to production.
Out of Hours Work:
- Participate in maintenance, upgrades, and installations as needed outside standard working hours.
Technology Research and Evaluation:

What We're Looking For
- At least 3+ years of support and installation experience in post-production or broadcast facilities, focusing on audiovisual systems.
- A good understanding and enthusiasm for consumer and prosumer AV technology, coupled with a strong desire to broaden your expertise in professional post-production equipment.
- Basic knowledge of media file formats and post-production equipment, including video routers, playback devices, KVM switchers and AV control systems.
- Basic administration skills in Windows and macOS.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently with good strategic problem-solving skills.
Nice to have:
- Strong admin skills with Linux, Windows and macOS.
- Proven mechanical skills.
- Film and video post production experience.
- Basic understanding of networking.
- Familiarity with Dante, Q-SYS control and video over IP systems.

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $99,800.00 - $124,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
