The Job:

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Manager of Complexity Reduction to join our Outdoor Post Sales Support (PSS) Category Management team. The PSS team is dedicated to developing and delivering packaged services and aftermarket parts, as well as providing outdoor consumer support, dealer support, training, and warranty programs. This role is crucial in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence through Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and reduce complexity.

As a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, you will lead efforts to simplify business processes, enhance efficiency, and foster innovation within the PSS team. You will work cross-functionally to identify, prioritize, and execute projects that align with the strategic priorities of the organization, ensuring that our post-sales support operations are optimized for both customer satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.

  • Lead Complexity Reduction Initiatives: Oversee a portfolio of projects focused on reducing complexity and improving processes using Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and customer expectations.
  • Guide Process Improvement Efforts: Direct cross-functional teams through structured problem-solving processes to achieve measurable improvements in efficiency and quality. Facilitate workshops and training sessions to build internal capabilities.
  • Data-Driven Solutions: Utilize statistical tools to identify root causes of complexity and implement data-driven solutions to streamline processes. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and impact.
  • Integration and Process Mapping: Lead integration efforts for relevant projects and develop process maps to document current states and recommend improvements. Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless implementation of process changes.
  • Foster Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, mentoring team members in complexity reduction techniques. Encourage the adoption of best practices and new technologies to enhance operational performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, to gather insights and drive collaborative improvement efforts.

The Person:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of professional experience in consumer products, manufacturing or related field.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification with a deep understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and tools, including statistical analysis, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis.
  • Strong project management skills, including project planning, resource allocation, timeline management, change management and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with skills in facilitation, conflict resolution, team building, and influencing stakeholders. Ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, with expertise in tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and other relevant software. Experience with data visualization and reporting tools is advantageous.
  • Business acumen, with an understanding of business processes, financial metrics, and customer needs. Ability to translate business requirements into actionable projects.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the global hand and power tools, storage and outdoor equipment manufacturing industry, including trends, challenges, and competitive landscape.
