The Senior Director of Software Engineering will be on the leadership team of Identity and Access Management Core Platform. In this role, you will focus on the technical strategy, multi-year roadmap, and collaboration across all lines of business. Your expertise in software engineering and knowledge of public cloud and IAM will position you to influence peer technical partners and business stakeholders.
What You'll Do:

• Build and Lead engineering teams to reimagine workload identity and privileged credential management by implementing a modern Zero Trust Workload Identity Platform
• Work with Product partners, and deliver robust solutions that drive automated capabilities supporting Cyber and IAM
• Partner with leaders across the enterprise to drive adoption of our automated capabilities
• Lead complex vendor relationships and ensure well-managed integration of vendor platforms into our broader Capital One ecosystem
• Develop and leverage trusted relationships across Architecture, Design, and other Technology leaders to ensure strategic alignment across key Cyber initiatives
• Utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity
• Coach and mentor engineers through their career development and performance

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 9 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 7 years of people leadership experience
• At least 7 years of experience with coding in one or more of the following languages: Python, SQL, Java, JavaScript, Golang, Bash, Perl, Ruby
• At least 4 years of public cloud experience (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
• At least 3 years of experience in leading enterprise platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• 4+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, and delivery
• 3+ years of experience working with Agile Development Practices
• 2+ years of experience in identity and access management

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Plano, TX: $280,600 - $320,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
McLean, VA: $308,700 - $352,300 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
New York, NY: $336,700 - $384,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
Richmond, VA: $280,600 - $320,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
San Jose, CA: $336,700 - $384,200 for Sr. Dir, Software Engineering
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
