Navan is seeking an experienced Manager of Finance Business Systems with deep technical expertise in NetSuite ERP to join our growing Accounting & Finance team. This role will have a critical and strategic impact on Navan during a dynamic phase of growth, including organic expansion and acquisitions requiring systems integration. In this position, you will manage a team of NetSuite developers, overseeing core ERP system implementations and integrations aimed at enhancing team efficiency, scalability, and supporting Navan's ambitious growth.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience leading technical ERP initiatives, specifically large-scale NetSuite solutions—designing, architecting, implementing, and integrating solutions via middleware platforms (such as Workato). You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, engineering teams, and external partners to translate complex business requirements into clear technical deliverables and successful system outcomes.

This position reports to the Director, Business Systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Core & Strategic Responsibilities:
    • Act as technical systems lead to define, architect, and drive best-in-class NetSuite technical solutions for Navan’s fast-growing global financial operations.
    • Manage successful end-to-end implementations and integrations of NetSuite ERP using Workato and/or other middleware platforms to internal and third-party applications.
    • Oversee the planning and execution of data migrations, ensuring crucial historical data from legacy ERP systems is accurately consolidated into NetSuite.
    • Translate functional and business requirements into detailed technical design and documentation; ensure that new or existing systems robustly meet business needs.
    • Provide deep technical expertise and guidance using SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, SuiteTalk, and relevant NetSuite development tools.
    • Utilize your extensive understanding of NetSuite's SDLC, development best practices, and performance optimization tactics.
    • Lead internal and external teams through architecture, technical design reviews, proof-of-concepts (POCs), and comprehensive testing processes — integration, user acceptance, and end-to-end process testing.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with ERP vendor partners and external consultants to ensure alignment and superior technical quality.
    • Develop and maintain detailed documentation to support configuration, agile project management methodology, processes, training materials, and future scalability.
    • Mentor, coach, and develop team members, building technical capability and proficiency within the NetSuite Development team
  • Technical & Functional Expertise:
    • Technical proficiency with core NetSuite development and customization capabilities, including SuiteScript (2.0+), SuiteFlow, SuiteTalk, SuiteBuilder, and SuiteAnalytics.
    • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming, relational database principles, and data architecture considerations.
    • Strong integration experience and expertise in middleware platforms (Workato preferred), leveraging SOAP/REST web services and XML/JSON data exchange formats.
    • Ability to devise efficient technical solutions for complex finance system integrations and automation initiatives.
    • Proficient in NetSuite functionalities across Order-to-Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, supporting global, multi-site implementations.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8-10+ years experience supporting, developing, architecting, and leading global ERP business systems teams in multi-location organizations.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ specialized technical experience developing, customizing, and administering NetSuite at scale, including global ERP implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability managing technical teams, developers, external consultants, and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Experience leveraging industry-leading middleware integration platforms  for ERP integrations and automations.
  • Robust experience with professional software engineering practices—agile release management, code-review best practices, unit/integration testing, documentation, and effective maintenance strategies.
  • Proven aptitude effectively partnering with business and technical stakeholders at varying levels to translate requirements effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal), capable of clearly articulating technical concepts to business audiences and collaborating across departments and functional areas.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning, and project management skills, with a track record of successfully deploying complex enterprise systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent practical work experience.
