Job Purpose:  
 

This position is a Sr. Associate, Corporate Development & TruStage Ventures LLC will assist in all aspects of the deal process, from origination to closing, for a broad range of transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, venture capital investments and other strategic transactions. Identify and source compelling investment opportunities independently and in partnership with managing director and senior team members of TruStage Ventures. Assist in all aspects of the venture capital investment program of TruStage Ventures, LLC. Provide expertise and advice on latest market trends in the financial services and fintech space and work with portfolio companies to help assess and execute growth strategies to maximize investment returns. 

 

Advisory responsibilities: 

  • Serve as key resource to managing director and senior team members on financial, deal and contract matters central to the investment, acquisition and divestiture process 

  • Provide insights and recommendations on deal opportunities to the head of Corporate Development, and core business stakeholders 

  • Establish, develop and manage relationships with target companies, sponsoring VC firms, and other company-specific stakeholders through all phases of the deal 

  • Identify and source potential deal opportunities from internal and external networks, PE/VC partners, and investment banking to drive deal flow 

  • Attend conferences / workshops to gather competitive intelligence, and identify market trends, partnership opportunities, and compelling investment ideas 

  • Identify, analyze and present market trends in the financial services and fintech sectors 

  • Assessment phase responsibilities: 

  • Assist in assessing business and revenue/profit models of target companies, market dynamics, deal economics and financial potential of investments 

  • Work alongside internal business executives and external advisors to assess acquisition, investment and commercial transaction opportunities 

  • Understand opportunity / build case for opportunity with key core business stakeholders and Corporate Development team and assist in the delivery of the initial business case 

Transaction phase responsibilities: 

  • Assist in all aspects of due diligence covering business, financial, tax, legal, operating, etc. and occasionally lead due diligence workstreams 

  • Work with Corporate Development team to develop final business case with a specific emphasis on transaction and financial related matters 

  • Lead in the preparation of investment memoranda and materials to the TruStage Ventures/ Corporate Development team, key business stakeholders, and investment committee 

Performance management responsibilities: 

  • Develop opportunities for portfolio companies to maximize the economic value of their businesses 

  • Assist in any subsequent capital raise activities for portfolio companies 

  • Represent TruStage Ventures as board observer for portfolio companies

Job Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration strongly preferred, or equivalent work experience. 

  • Master's degree or MBA preferred 

  • 4-7 years of professional finance work experience with at least 3 years of direct transaction experience in investment banking, corporate development and/or venture capital 

  • Increasing levels of responsibility throughout career with experience working on complex transactions from inception to close 

  • Direct experience assisting with deal and contract negotiations, as well as resolving complex business issues and 

  • structuring complex contracts 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently 

  • Strong communicator, able to clearly articulate and execute goals and objectives 

 

Position Specific:  

  • Financial services experience preferred 

  • Experience working on transactions in either a corporate development or venture capital role 

  • Strong financial and analytical skills with intermediate skills around valuation methodologies 

  • Requires strong financial analysis skills and understanding of technology and business trends in financial services and financial technology 

  • Comfortable networking both internally and externally with key stakeholders, including investment bankers, venture capitalists and executive teams of companies 

  • Ability to make data driven decisions under strict time deadlines 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills 

  • Strong team leadership and motivation skills

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.

 

Base Salary Range:

$122,600.00 - $183,900.00
