What you'll do
You are the technical keystone through the entire sales cycle - pre and post sales. You will work closely with our Enterprise prospects and customers to educate, empower, and ensure their success on the Cloudflare platform. You will leverage your technical expertise in Cloudflare's global distributed network and technology to find best-fit solutions for prospects, to train and onboard new customers via video-conference, in person, or through documentation, and to support the long-term success of the customer. As an expert on web/mobile security and performance, you are a trusted source for developing new firewall rules from log files, crafting performance caching and delivery strategies, and creating or repurposing internal tools and scripts for customers.
As a Solutions Engineer for the Mid-Market, you are the technical customer advocate within Cloudflare. To aid your customers, you will work closely with every team at Cloudflare, from Sales and Product to Engineering and Customer Support. Your goal of customer success should drive you through the entire organization as you seek out and create scalable solutions for your customer's needs.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical discussions with enterprise prospects and customers, identifying optimal solutions.
- Educate and onboard new customers, offering technical guidance and best practices.
- Work directly with customers to develop new firewall rules, performance strategies, and scripts/tools tailored to their needs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer needs are addressed across all areas of the business.
- Become a trusted technical advisor to customers, providing expertise in web and mobile security, network infrastructure, and performance optimization.
Desired Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in technical sales, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, accessible way.
- Experience working with senior-level stakeholders to drive network and security transformation.
- Familiarity with core internet technologies, including:
- TCP vs UDP and their use cases
- Authoritative vs recursive DNS
- The role of firewalls and TLS (SSL) in modern internet security
- In-depth knowledge of HTTP and how web clients and servers interact.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in sales or consulting, even outside of the tech industry.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash).
- Previous experience building or contributing to web applications.
- Familiarity with common web security vulnerabilities like CSRF, XSS, SQLi, and how Cloudflare mitigates them.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2.
Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
- For Colorado, Illinois, New York and Texas based: Estimated annual salary of $146,000.00 - $178,000.00
- For New York City, Seattle, Washington, DC Metro and California based (excluding Bay Area): Estimated annual salary of $149,000.00 - $183,000.00
- For San Francisco Bay Area based hires: Estimated annual salary of $158,000.00 - $193,000.00
Commissions
This role is eligible to earn incentive compensation under Cloudflare's Sales Compensation Plan. The estimated annual salary range includes the on-target incentive compensation that may be attained in this role under the Sales Compensation Plan.
Equity
This role is eligible to participate in Cloudflare's equity plan.
