We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join the Snap Lab team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

  • Take a leading role in designing, architecting, and implementing system software throughout the entire development lifecycle, from prototyping to production.

  • Develop software components across all system layers, including kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocation, memory management, security, I/O systems, persistence, and multimedia pipelines.

  • Conduct and participate in design and code reviews with peers and stakeholders to ensure robust and reliable solutions.

  • Diagnose, debug, and resolve system or product issues by analyzing root causes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with computer architecture (e.g., caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA).

  • Experience developing system software for at least one multimedia pipeline. (Camera/Video/Audio/Graphics)

  • Proficiency in software development processes, including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.

  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read schematics and interpret component datasheets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in C or C++ programming.

  • 7+ years of experience in embedded software development and ARM architecture.

  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: BSP (Board Support Package), Operating Systems, Android/Linux Embedded OS, Graphics, Camera, Audio, or Display, with a focus on performance and energy efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience with hardware bring-up, MIPI/CSI drivers, ISP firmware/drivers, and I2C/I3C protocols.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the camera processing pipeline, including ISP, sensors, and power management.

  • Familiarity with at least one RTOS (Zephyr/FreeRTOS/QNX), IPC fundamentals, and the kernel/user-space driver model.

  • Background in software development for Mobile, AR/VR/MR systems.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
