About Us

Life is better when you’re with friends.

Our product studio was founded on this belief. Each day we get to wake up and invent new products that help us deepen friendships and make new ones – products we want to use with our friends. We are backed by a16z and dozens of the best angel investors in the world, and we have years of runway, which allows us to stay heads down and aim big. Our first product, Clubhouse, has become a home for millions of people around the world – who use it to meet new friends, have fun and join amazing conversations throughout the day. We expect that our next products will use AI to bring friends together in ways never before possible.

If you are a talented builder who’s interested in joining us, we’d love to talk.

The Role

As a member of the infrastructure team, you’ll build and manage infrastructure that allows Clubhouse to ship features rapidly on a foundation that can scale to millions of users across the world.

We are a remote friendly-company — with our headquarters in San Francisco and a strong commitment to ensuring people can do great work here and thrive without having to live near an office. This role is open to candidates across the U.S.

Who you are

  • You are experienced.  You are a seasoned infra engineer with 5+ years of experience, expertise in building, deploying, monitoring and scaling systems on AWS, and a deep understanding of Linux, Postgres, AWS DynamoDB, Redis, Terraform, and more. You are comfortable building and automating systems that span from cloud providers (AWS), Python application servers, and deployment pipelines, all the way to individual Linux servers.
  • You act like an owner. You are proactive, resourceful, and enjoy highly autonomous environments. You are willing to dive into any problem impacting the company whether it be investigating mysterious web performance issues, eliminating database queries, or designing systems to scale audio infrastructure. You work independently and understand how to efficiently prioritize and utilize your team to meet company goals.
  • You’re a strong communicator. You’re a strong written and verbal communicator; you can capture the essence of complex situations quickly and communicate them to technical and non-technical partners.
  • You’re scrappy and entrepreneurial. You like to build and ship and have a bias towards getting things done. You thrive in fast paced environments and view ambiguity as an opportunity to lead Clubhouse closer to its mission.
  • You take pride in your work. You are committed to your craft and write high-quality code while shipping the best possible user experience. You obsess over the details and are excited about creating products that leave a lasting impression.
  • You are a team player. You have a low-ego, put the team’s success first, and believe that fostering a collaborative and diverse environment is not only integral to the team's well-being but also crucial for driving innovation and achieving long-term success.

What you will do

  • You’ll build and ship. As part of the Clubhouse team, you will move fast and own, implement, and maintain all of Clubhouse’s core infrastructure with the goal of improving performance, reliability, and scalability. Whether it’s tweaking a configure to save millions of dollars or architecting a bigger change that will help Clubhouse 10x, you’ll constantly be building and shipping.
  • You’ll work collaboratively. You’ll work closely with a talented group of engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand user and business needs and convert technical and product visions in infrastructure roadmaps.
  • You’ll grow, teach, and improve rapidly. At Clubhouse you’ll be working with an incredible team, who love to learn from and teach each other. You’ll find yourself stretching to new areas, immersed in feedback, and growing your skills on a daily basis.
  • You’ll create something meaningful. Social products allow people to connect in ways that were never before possible. When the telephone was invented, it suddenly allowed people to speak with others across the world. Thanks to FaceTime, grandparents everywhere can now watch their grandchildren grow up. At Clubhouse, you’ll be figuring out something entirely new for the world—a positive product that brings people’s voices together to help everyone have a life filled with great friendships.

What you can expect

As a member of our team, you can choose to work in person – at our beautiful, creative HQ in San Francisco – or fully remote. You can expect competitive base pay (currently $200,000 - $245,000 for this role), meaningful ownership in the company, great benefits, and constant advancement opportunities.

More importantly, we will invest deeply in your development and work every day to ensure it is the best professional experience of your life.
