Newsela’s Social Media and Online Community Manager leads our brand’s digital presence on social media, engages with our audience, and fosters an active online community. This role is critical in shaping our brand’s voice, driving engagement, and building relationships with customers, end users, and influencers.

Social Media Management:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with business goals of driving new users and encouraging product adoption. 
  • Contribute to and leverage a shared Editorial Calendar to create platform-optimized content (polls, Q&As, reels, videos, graphic carousels) across social channels.
  • Stay ahead of trends, adjusting the posting schedule based on current events, trending topics, business priorities, and performance analytics.
  • Manage and grow our presence across key platforms (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.).
  • Monitor trends, conversations, and competitor activity to keep our brand relevant.
  • Track and analyze performance metrics both within platform and off-platform, adjusting strategies to optimize engagement and reach. 

Online Community Management:

  • Build and nurture an engaged online community across owned channels 
  • Collaborate with Community Coaches and internal subject matter experts to elevate teacher voices and advocacy within and beyond the Newselaverse.
  • Partner with the Growth Marketing Manager and Customer Engagement Manager to cross-promote activations and programs on social / online community channels.
  • Develop initiatives to encourage user-generated content, discussions, and brand advocacy on our online channels (ex: hosted chats, live feeds)
  • Respond to community inquiries, comments, and concerns in a timely and brand-aligned manner. (can outsource to a designated Support team member or SEM) 
  • Identify and activate brand champions and influencers to amplify our message. (Collaborating with SEMs, Educator Spotlights, Customer Engagement Manager)

Content & Campaign Collaboration:

    • Partner with internal subject matter experts to create a process for generating platform-optimized content that provides daily, weekly coverage across channels
    • Work closely with content marketing, demand generation, and product marketing teams to ensure social media and community efforts align with broader marketing initiatives.
    • Support product launches, events, and campaigns with engaging digital storytelling.
    • Leverage social listening tools to gather insights and inform content strategies.
    • Track the impact of social campaigns on company-level OKRs: primarily growth and engagement, secondarily demand generation.

Why you’re a great fit:

  • 3+ years of experience in social media management, community building, or digital marketing.
  • Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and best practices.
  • Experience using social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, or similar).
  • Excellent writing, communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to grow and engage online communities.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in analyzing social media metrics.
  • Passion for fostering meaningful conversations and relationships online.

Base compensation: $70,000 - $80,000. Total compensation for this role also includes incentive stock options and benefits. This compensation range may be adjusted based on actual experience.
