Job Mission:


At Terraformation, we’re on a mission to restore native forests and tackle climate change at scale. But restoration isn’t just about trees—it’s about people. As our Social Impact Manager, you’ll ensure that local communities are at the heart of our reforestation efforts, working alongside partners to build fair, sustainable, and impactful projects. Your role will shape how we engage communities, uphold international social standards, and create lasting benefits for those who steward our forests.


Location: Remote; United States preferred (UTC +/-6)


Salary: Salary: $80,000 - $100,000, plus equity (depending on location and experience)

Responsibilities

  • Lead community engagement strategies to ensure meaningful participation in restoration projects.
  • Oversee and improve processes for Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) across projects.
  • Support and manage partners in designing benefit-sharing mechanisms that create lasting economic and social value.
  • Strengthen the oversight of local consultants and partners, ensuring high-quality social impact work.
  • Drive compliance with global standards (e.g., CCB, Verra) and support certification processes.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to empower partners and local teams.
  • Develop tools and tracking systems to monitor social impact and community outcomes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support grant applications, investor due diligence, and impact reporting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in social impact management, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Expertise in FPIC and feedback and grievance redress processes, social impact assessments, and certification frameworks (CCB, Verra, Gold Standard).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience developing social impact monitoring plans.
  • Experience managing international teams and working across diverse cultural contexts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust with stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English (Spanish or French preferred).
  • Willingness to travel to remote project sites (up to 25%).
