As a Sleep Coach in our Employer Sleep Health Program, you’ll provide individualized support and education to employees experiencing sleep issues such as sleep apnea, insomnia, and poor sleep habits. You will work within a virtual care model to empower patients to make sustainable changes that improve their sleep health, energy levels, and overall well-being. This role requires a blend of motivational coaching, sleep education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring seamless, high-quality care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual sleep coaching sessions with patients, using evidence-based practices to address sleep issues and improve sleep hygiene.
- Educate patients on the impact of sleep health on overall well-being and offer guidance on maintaining consistent, restorative sleep patterns.
- Develop personalized sleep improvement plans, including behavioral strategies, to address conditions like insomnia, sleep apnea (in collaboration with medical providers), and circadian rhythm disorders.
- Provide ongoing support and accountability, motivating patients to implement and adhere to their sleep improvement plans.
- Collaborate closely with our team of sleep medicine specialists, including cardiologists, endocrinologists, and other healthcare providers, to support comprehensive patient care.
- Track and assess patient progress, adjusting plans as necessary and providing additional resources or referrals for higher-level interventions when needed.
- Educate patients on the risks associated with untreated sleep disorders and guide them in using diagnostic tools or treatments (e.g., CPAP machines for sleep apnea) as recommended by sleep physicians.
- Contribute to team discussions to enhance the employer sleep program and provide feedback on program effectiveness.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Certification in Health Coaching, Sleep Coaching, Behavioral Sleep Medicine, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sleep health coaching or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of sleep hygiene practices, sleep disorders (especially sleep apnea and insomnia), and behavioral change techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and motivational interviewing skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Comfort with virtual healthcare platforms and digital communication tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Psychology, Sleep Health, or related field.
- Certification or experience in Sleep Medicine (e.g., Registered Sleep Technologist) is a plus.
