Job Description:

Broadcom is looking for a motivated Silicon Photonics PIC Design Engineer with excellent written and oral communication skills. This role will be responsible for the design, simulation, layout, testing, and system-level verification of silicon photonics components and circuits.↳

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and layout engineers to develop integrated photonic circuits.

  • Utilize simulation tools, including Ansys/ Lumerical, Cadence Virtuoso design environment, to validate designs.

  • Work with fab / process engineers to define and optimize device design and process monitoring structures.

  • Create test and qualification plans in collaboration with validation and quality engineers.

  • Validate link performance in coordination with EIC, packaging, and system architects.

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Optics with 10+ years of related experience, or PhD with 7+ years of related experience.

Experience:

  • Proficiency with photonics design and simulation tools such as Ansys / Lumerical, Photon Design, and Cadence Virtuoso.

  • Deep understanding of high-speed RF modeling and parametric extraction; experience with Ansys HFSS is desirable.

  • Hands-on experience with high-speed active optical devices, such as MZM and MRM.

  • Hands-on experience with passive optical structures including couplers, splitters, PSR, and WDM components.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $141,000 - $225,000.

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
