To lead this transformative shift in mobility, we’ve built a world-class team in Human-Centered AI, Energy and Materials, Human Interactive Driving, and Robotics.

TRI’s Carbon Neutrality Department within our Human-Centered AI (HCAI) Division blends behavioral science, human-computer interaction research, and machine learning to understand, predict and enable carbon neutral behavior.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to work alongside cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams, ensuring the overall coordination and delivery of research milestones, prototypes, and/or fully integrated research concepts. These deliveries include synthesizing engineering integration project schedules, identifying/mitigating risks, and clearly communicating goals and statuses to project partners as well as HCAI and TRI leadership. These projects span numerous Toyota offices and time zones and require keeping all partners coordinated on project progress and timelines. If you are passionate about developing technology and methodologies to support carbon neutrality, this is the role for you!

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal partnerships between Research and Engineering.
  • Help teams accelerate research by implementing standard methodologies and right-sizing project efforts to achieve measurable standards of success (e.g., roadmapping, tracking, communications, risk management, infrastructure, and operational support).
  • Facilitate & lead inter-team collaboration, performance, and productivity through transparent communication of requirements, deliveries, dependencies, and execution.
  • Support initiatives across Toyota through collaboration with Carbon Neutrality Department researchers and leadership by identifying tech adoption interests, managing multi-functional dependencies and delivery timelines, facilitating the transfer of technology, and developing POCs, models, and documentation that can be transitioned or adopted in future products.
  • Apply your exceptional project management skills and implement processes that ensure the successful organization, communication, and prioritization of tasks for each project sprint cycle.
  • Provide project status, progress, and risk reporting updates to all levels within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of aligned industry experience leading multiple software development projects / programs concurrently.
  • 3+ years of experience as a TPM or engineering lead managing technical projects with a preference towards human behavioral modeling, human machine interface, and/or machine learning.
  • Ability to dive into technical details to coordinate planning and progress with individual contributors, technical leaders, and partners.
  • Experienced in agile development frameworks including developing user-stories, backlogs, sprint planning, retrospectives, and possibly fulfilling the role of Product Owner.
  • Comfortable engaging, presenting to, and influencing all levels of the organization, from individual contributors to executive leadership.
  • Excellent written / verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with multi-functional and interdisciplinary teams to accomplish project goals.
  • Ability to thrive within ambiguity, set your own goals, and effectively deliver them in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.
