Overview

This role requires a detail-oriented, strategic leader with an extensive understanding of technical accounting principles and the ability to oversee the transformation of complex financial information into clear, compliant communication. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, proactive leader capable of driving cross-functional collaboration, and delivering high-impact insights to senior stakeholders while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting. They should demonstrate a track record of developing team members and implementing process improvements to enhance the effectiveness of a TA ER function.


About the Team

This role reports to the Senior Director of Technical Accounting and External Reporting within the CAO organization. The Technical Accounting and External Reporting (TA ER) team plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of complex transactions and financial reporting. Working closely with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations, and other departments, the TA ER team ensures compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements while providing valuable financial insights. 


About the Job

Financial Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements (10-Q, 10-K) in compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Oversee the preparation of complex financial schedules, including earnings per share, cash flow statement, equity rollforward, among others
  • Manage and enhance the quarterly disclosure checklist process, ensuring full adherence to US GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Coordinate with senior management, external auditors, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate SEC filings

Technical Accounting

  • Lead in-depth technical accounting research and mentor team members in preparing detailed memorandums on complex accounting issues
  • Stay informed of emerging accounting pronouncements and disclosure requirements, serving as a senior knowledge resource for the organization
  • Lead the interpretation and implementation of new accounting standards, ensuring company-wide compliance
  • Provide expertise in stock-based compensation accounting and collaborate closely with equity administration

Audit and Compliance

  • Oversee quarterly reviews and annual audit processes, acting as the primary liaison with auditors
  • Lead the maintenance and enhancement of SOX controls related to financial reporting and technical accounting
  • Ensure the proper documentation and execution of comprehensive external reporting SOX controls

Process Improvement

  • Identify strategic opportunities and lead initiatives to streamline reporting processes and controls
  • Continuously refine and enhance external reporting procedures and policies
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation of financial information used in external reporting, including earnings releases and investor relations materials

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional senior leaders to resolve complex accounting and reporting issues
  • Provide expert strategic guidance on technical accounting matters to various departments across the organization
  • Support investor relations initiatives by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial disclosures


About You

Minimum requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, with a significant portion in a leadership role, and experience in public accounting, preferably Big Four audit, including direct experience with external reporting and technical accounting
  • Bachelor or higher degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification required
  • Extensive US GAAP and accounting skills with the ability to convert technical research and interpretation into practical, strategic solutions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Exceptional organizational skills ensuring efficient and effective strategic execution
  • Demonstrated capability to establish realistic timelines, coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, and consistently meet deadlines


Preferred requirements

  • Proficiency in financial reporting software (i.e., Workiva) and advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrates a proactive, hands-on style and the ability to prioritize and deliver results amidst a wide variety of critical initiatives
