Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (PlayStation). Our software production organization seeks a software engineer for our Platform Audio team. This team is a trailblazer in audio technology. Efforts here will contribute to the development of system libraries used for both our current and next generation PlayStation products. You will drive the design and implementation of technology used for 3D audio, hardware DSP, and virtual reality. Responsibilities:
- Experience with systems programming and debugging using C and C++
- Multi-threaded programming
- Ability to understand users’ requirements and drive integration
- Lead architecture design and development of audio systems and frameworks
- Collaborate with international counterparts to realize project and department goals
Qualifications Required:
- Min. of 5 years systems level programming using C and C++
- Capable of writing clear and efficient C and C++ code with appropriate memory management, object-oriented design, and hardware specific performance optimizations.
- Familiarity with operating system concepts such as threading, system calls, and interrupt handling.
- Basic understanding of source control systems and software build systems. (Git/CMake)
Nice to have:
- Prior embedded system development
- Experience with lower-level system architecture such as memory mapping, DMA engines, and Assembly programming
- Understanding of concepts in digital signal processing (sampling, fourier transform, convolution, digital filter theory)
- Experience with GPU architecture and memory management
- Experience with game audio or audio system development
- Exposure to gaming console and/or consumer electronics development

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

$187,700—$281,500 USD
