The Languages team supports 2000+ Roblox teammates who write, build, and ship the most incredible virtual experience platform in the world. As a Senior Software Engineer focused on how C# and .NET are used at the company, you will have massive end-to-end impact on everything from improving the C# development experience to squeezing the last bit of runtime performance out of our data center services.

You Will:

  • Develop a golden path for the way C# developers work from IDE through production monitoring.
  • Debug, profile, and optimize the use of C# and .NET at hyperscale in Roblox data centers.
  • Establish and promote standard methodologies for C# development throughout the company.
  • Shepherd the Roblox ecosystem for managing C# libraries, packages, and versions.
  • Drive C# evolution and modernization at Roblox, staying on top of industry trends and teaching the company.

You Have:

  • A BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in a related field with at least 4+ years work experience.
  • Deep knowledge of C# and .NET, from basic syntax to advanced language features.
  • A thorough understanding of CLR internals, including thread/memory/object management and garbage collection.
  • Real-world experience developing, deploying, operating, and optimizing .NET services.
  • Experience debugging, and performance profiling services at scale.
  • Strong background with enterprise-level language infrastructure (packages, compilers, dependencies, CI pipelines).
  • Familiarity working with common cloud and hosting technologies (e.g. AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Hashistack (Nomad, Vault, Terraform).

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$189,110-$233,840 USD

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).

Hybrid Workspace

Employees engage in a combination of remote and on-site work.

We are requiring employees to be in the office three days a week – with core days being Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On Mondays and Fridays, employees may choose to work remotely, although the office will still be open.
