About the Role
Instacart is on a mission to operate the world's most trusted and secure grocery delivery platform, and corporate security is a cornerstone of achieving that vision. As a Senior Security Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in safeguarding Instacart’s internal systems, data, and workflows. You’ll lead the charge in detecting and mitigating risks within our corporate environment and will have the unique opportunity to define our corporate security strategy and implement scalable solutions to ensure operational security and velocity.

About the Team
The Corporate Security team at Instacart is responsible for ensuring that the company’s internal networks, corporate assets, and employee workflows are secure, scalable, and resilient. This team operates at the intersection of security and efficiency, crafting proactive strategies to protect Instacart while maintaining operational speed.

As the first engineer dedicated exclusively to corporate security, you’ll partner closely with Corporate Engineering and teams across infrastructure, IT, and subsidiaries to implement best-in-class security practices:

  • Infrastructure Engineering: Build security controls directly into engineering workflows.
  • IT-Corporate Engineering: Prioritize high-impact security improvements while maintaining employee efficiency.
  • Subsidiaries: Extend enterprise-grade security into subsidiary corporate environments.

About the Job
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Deploying systems and automations that provide top-tier security for Instacart’s corporate environment.
  • Acting as the security partner for the IT-Corporate Engineering team, elevating security awareness and ensuring security remains a key priority.
  • Owning and managing Instacart’s corporate security roadmap, working closely with the Detection and Response team to ensure controls are successfully monitored.
  • Developing and operationalizing a vulnerability management program for the corporate network and assets, ensuring continuous improvement of the company’s overall security posture.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Information Security, including operational security monitoring with tools such as osQuery and Crowdstrike.
  • Strong expertise in corporate security systems and best practices, with experience in environments involving Zero Trust, Okta, Google Workspace, BeyondCorp, email security, and more.
  • Hands-on experience building tools and automations using common DevOps toolsets and programming languages.
  • A proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, especially within SRE, detection engineering, and response groups.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to successfully advocate for corporate security initiatives and deeply engage with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of defining and managing corporate security roadmaps.
  • Experience building scalable vulnerability management programs in complex corporate networks.
  • Leadership skills to mentor team members and drive cross-team initiatives.
