Senior Product Mgr II Media Acquisition & Ingest
Background
Media Product is a technical and horizontally aligned Product Management domain that enables the backbone of Disney's DTC media ecosystem including acquisition, media processing, video player, and operational tools.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Media Pipeline and Access team. In this role, you will be responsible for the services and workflows that enable VOD and Live media components to be acquired, processed, published, and maintained. These pipelines power content delivery to Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ services and support a wide array of packaging formats, media types, and content shapes, including both Media and Metadata acquisition. This team defines our media ingestion specifications and the tools that facilitate the Live and VOD content QC and publishing process used by our operators and content partners alike.
Responsibilities
- Define and communicate the product strategy and vision for the acquisition and ingest domain supporting our media platform and workflows.
- Own end-to-end product lifecycle from ideation to launch and iteration.
- Develop and maintain a clear roadmap in collaboration with partners in Engineering, Operations, and Product management.
- Define clear product specifications, create user stories, and work with engineering teams to ensure successful development, testing, and release.
- Track KPIs and incorporate measures into the strategy to continuously optimize the product and make data-driven decisions.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years of product management or relevant experience required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data-driven insights to inform product decisions, measure performance, and optimize the user experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven ability to drive product initiatives from concept to delivery.
- Ability to work with engineering teams to discuss technical concepts, make tradeoffs to remove roadblocks, operate a successful delivery cadence, and evaluate new ideas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of media supply chain concepts and operational workflows.
- Familiarity with live and VOD standardized media and metadata frameworks such as MovieLabs Digital Distribution Framework (MDDF), SCTE 224, EMA Avails, CableLabs, etc.
- Expert comprehension regarding file formats, resolution, dynamic range, frame rates, audio asset types, images and the use and conversion between various combinations as they relate to asset management, transcoding, and distribution.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $152,200 to $204,1000 per year, in New York, NY and Seattle, WA is $159,500 to $213,900 per year, and in San Francisco, CA is $166,800 to $223,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
