A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.

Roblox is used by hundreds of millions of people every month, across almost all devices (mobile, desktop, console, VR, etc.) and millions of outstanding user generated experiences. They expect the best app performance: lightning-quick app launches, buttery smooth animation, validated stability. We’re looking for a product manager to drive Roblox towards being the best app they’ve ever felt across all devices and experiences. Identify, define, prioritize, and design the features, frameworks, and architectures used to optimize the experience of Roblox players around the world. This includes app launch time, app download size, stability metrics, page load time, animation smoothness, etc. Really, anything that improves the performance of the app.
  • Write product and technical specifications to communicate those initiatives and unblock the team to relentlessly implement.
  • Understand, influence, and expand the company’s thinking on App Performance to optimize the Roblox experience.
  • Balance the needs of internal collaborators, business goals, third-party game developers, and Roblox players with the long-term vision of Roblox.
  • Work closely with many hard-working internal collaborators, engineers, designers, data scientists, and product team members.
  • Present and debate nuanced and difficult decisions with our highly engaged and entrepreneurial leadership. This area is important to our users so is important to everyone up and down Roblox.
  • Dive into the technical nitty-gritty, helping make the right decisions on a platform that is shipping across every major consumer platform.
  • Monitor analytics, critical metrics, AB testing results, competitive intelligence, customer behavior, etc. to help make the right business decisions. Performance metrics often have trade-offs; you will help make those decisions.

You have:

  • A degree or equivalent experience in a highly technical field like computer science, software engineering.
  • Experience product managing the performance characteristics of a consumer app at scale. This includes instrumenting, improving, and measuring the impact of those performance characteristics.
  • Experience as an engineer or engineering manager shipping a consumer mobile, desktop, or console app at scale. This includes involvement in architecting a consumer app to optimize performance.
  • Experience owning and driving roadmaps for teams that span multiple features

  • Experienced, with 7+ years of product management experience and experience building excellent consumer apps operating at mass scale.
  • Analytical, with experience driving user understanding in collaboration with Engineering and Data Science including: crafting instrumentation and monitoring, and conducting experiments in difficult to measure environments
  • Highly technical, efficient with delving into the product, the platform, and the implementation details. You’re capable of going beyond user needs to define scalable and extensible systems to improve Performance in an area where engineering systems are the product.
  • An excellent communicator and documenter, with phenomenal listening, verbal, and written communication skills. You’re at home understanding and expressing strategies, priorities, trade-offs, and tasks at the 30K-foot level and at the level of detailed technical specs.
  • Bold, having worked in a fast paced environment, with competing resources and priorities, through the product life cycle from planning, development, through to launch. You love to get things done.
