Role summary

Volley is looking for a Senior Product Designer who can lead the design of outstanding user experiences across our mobile and TV platforms. You'll define and drive the design vision for key features and products, creating visually compelling experiences that captivate millions of players. This role is perfect for someone who blends exceptional visual design skills with UX expertise, strategic thinking, motion design, and enthusiasm for leveraging generative AI to push creative boundaries and enhance productivity.

This job opportunity offers a hybrid work arrangement, and we are specifically seeking candidates who are comfortable with on-site attendance in our Bay Area office 3 times per week (MWF) and are either currently residing in or near the Bay Area or willing to relocate for on-site work.

What you'll do at Volley

  • Lead end-to-end design for complex product features, ensuring visually stunning and intuitive user experiences across mobile and TV.
  • Create detailed wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished visual designs, clearly documenting your rationale and effectively aligning stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, game designers, and researchers to deliver cohesive, player-focused solutions.
  • Use rapid prototyping techniques to quickly validate concepts, iterate designs, and gather user insights.
  • Proactively mentor and support junior designers, raising the overall visual and design quality within the team.
  • Actively explore and advocate for generative AI tools to enhance your productivity, creativity, and our user experiences.

Stuff you may have done before

  • Designed consumer experiences for mobile, TV, or web that engaged millions of users and demonstrated a high bar for craft and usability.
  • Worked in a startup or fast-paced environment where you had to balance speed, quality, and ambiguity without sacrificing outcomes.
  • Regularly collaborated with PMs and engineers to solve user problems—not just execute design requests.
  • Took initiative to bring new ideas forward, from visual improvements to workflow enhancements and team practices.
  • Used generative AI tools or emerging technologies not just out of curiosity, but to meaningfully enhance creative output.
  • Contributed to a team culture of feedback, inclusion, and continuous learning through mentorship, peer support, or design leadership.

Must-haves

  • 6+ years of product design experience with a standout portfolio showcasing sophisticated visual, UX, and motion design work.
  • Proven ability to independently lead complex projects from inception to launch, balancing user, business, and technical needs.
  • Strong communicator who brings clarity and influence to design discussions and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Curiosity and hands-on experience with generative AI tools to enhance creativity and design workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data and user research to improve designs and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, iterative environment with evolving priorities and minimal direction.

Our stack

  • Design: Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, Framer, ProtoPie, Rive, Lottie
  • Collaboration: Notion, Slack, Linear
  • AI & Analytics: ChatGPT, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Amplitude
  • Research: UserTesting, internal tools

Your first 90 days

  • Establish strong relationships across design, product, and engineering; deeply understand our product vision and player needs.
  • Take ownership of a major design project, driving it from early exploration to near-launch with minimal oversight.
  • Deliver high-quality design work that reflects sound judgment, insight, and thoughtful tradeoffs.
  • Contribute meaningfully to design critiques, helping raise team standards and sharing actionable feedback.
  • Identify opportunities for process or experience improvements, and begin leading efforts to implement them.
  • Demonstrate initiative in integrating AI tools into your workflow to increase speed, creativity, or insight.
