THE OPPORTUNITY

Title: Senior Payroll Analyst (UK)

Location: UK remote

Job summary

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll in coordination with payroll vendors and internal stakeholders. This role focuses on service delivery excellence, process optimization, compliance, and stakeholder management to enhance overall payroll efficiency.

Your role in our mission:

Payroll Management & Service Delivery (70%)

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate data submission to payroll vendors per agreed timelines and processes.

  • Plan and assign payroll-related activities according to payroll calendars, optimizing resource utilization.

  • Monitor case volumes, service levels, and related metrics for both internal teams and vendors to drive high customer satisfaction.

  • Review payroll audits and prepare payroll signoff for vendors.

  • Ensure payroll data integration issues/errors are identified and resolved promptly, maintaining data accuracy and completeness per payroll calendars.

  • Support internal and external audits of payroll data, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.

  • Provide Tier 3 support to the call center and payroll vendor for payroll policy-related inquiries.

Process Optimization & Compliance

  • Continuously assess payroll processes and procedures, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Ensure payroll documentation, including Business Requirements, Payroll Procedures Manual, Checklists, SOPs, and FAQs, is maintained and reviewed regularly.

  • Lead change management initiatives related to payroll, including M&A activities, regulatory updates, and process changes.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by analyzing payroll metrics and implementing enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Develop and maintain strong working partnerships with key stakeholders.

  • Ensure effective issue resolution and service delivery excellence through proactive vendor and stakeholder management.

Valued skills and experience:

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Substantial experience in a similar position experience

  • Strong understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Experience managing payroll vendors and coordinating with internal stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in documenting payroll processes and understanding payroll operations.

  • Comfort in working with different systems and interpreting payroll data.

  • Knowledge of legal regulations, country statutory requirements, and payroll-related reporting obligations.

  • Knowledge of SAP payroll is a plus.

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  • Ability to take initiative, make sound judgments, and assume responsibility for assignments.

  • Drive continuous improvement efforts by analyzing payroll metrics and implementing enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders in HR, Payroll, and Finance.

  • Team-oriented attitude with a strong commitment to service excellence.

Adaptability & Learning

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new processes, including payroll for additional countries.

  • Ability to adapt to regulatory updates, process changes, and M&A initiatives.

  • Attention to detail, high-level quality focus, and strong organizational skills.

  • Fluent in English; additional French or German language skills considered a plus but are not essential

  • This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional with a strong focus on process improvement, compliance, and stakeholder collaboration to drive payroll efficiency and service excellence.
