What we need 

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Procurement to lead and enhance our supply chain processes and supplier management within the Automation Category. In this role, you will execute effective category management strategies, conduct data-driven evaluations of supplier performance, identify potential risks, and collaborate cross-functionally to mitigate those risks. Additionally, you will drive cost-reduction initiatives and play a key role in defining and developing a robust supplier base to support Symbotic's supply chain organization. 

 

Remote based position.  For this remote role, we’re looking for someone in Eastern or Central Time Zone to ensure sufficient collaboration with current team members in Massachusetts.     

 

What we do  

Our global sourcing, procurement and third-party supplier team develop innovative category management strategies in collaboration with the business. The team focuses on strategic third-party partner agreements and help support supplier relationship management, commercial and financial pricing models for overall supplier performance.  

 

What you’ll do  

  • Manage primary commodities, including integrated automation solutions (industrial robots, conveyors, lifts, control systems, and electrical panels). 

  • Drive a flexible and dependable supplier base through collaboration, conflict resolution, and performance management aligned with internal stakeholders. 

  • Lead cross-functional communication and project execution to achieve savings and supply chain strategy goals. 

  • Oversee contract management, including allocations, forecasting, change management, and the development of new contracts prioritizing cost, capacity, flexibility, and quality. 

  • Collaborate with NPI leads and engineering on product scouting, RFQs, and contract execution. 

  • Develop and implement 2–3-year supply chain execution strategies with contingency planning. 

  • Lead and mentor supply chain professionals in purchasing turnkey automation solutions, measuring supplier performance, and building strategic relationships. 

  • Partner with engineering, quality, and procurement to identify materials, manufacturers, and techniques that optimize modularization, accelerate installation, reduce costs, and ensure quality. 

Work with Finance to maintain cost models for commodities and own EAC variance forecasting. 

  • Oversee supply base management, ensuring cost, quality, delivery, innovation, and sustainability while identifying and mitigating business risks in collaboration with project and financial teams. 

Develop and implement automation supply chain strategies, scaling contract manufacturing and outsourcing to support Symbotic's growth. 

 

What you’ll need 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or related field. 

  • 8+ years in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, or purchasing, with 3+ years leading teams and succession planning. 

  • Knowledge of commodities like conveyors, lifts, robotics, automation controls, and material handling systems. 

  • Expertise in contract terms, financial concepts (revenue, cost forecasting, risk management), and engineering basics (BOMs, prints). 

  • Preferred experience in project management, NPI, and scaling supply chain operations. 

  • Proficiency in analytics and visualization tools (Excel, PowerPoint required; Tableau, SmartSheets preferred). 

  • Advanced analytical and strategic thinking skills with a proven ability to execute solutions. 

  • Experience developing KPI dashboards, business cases, and operational execution plans. 

  • Familiarity with PLM and ERP systems (SAP). 

  • Ability to create processes and workflows in undefined environments. 

  • Background in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments. 

 

Our Environment  

  • Remote based position.  For this remote role, we’re looking for someone in Eastern or Central Time Zone to ensure sufficient collaboration with current team members in Massachusetts.     

  • Up to 20% of travel may be required to occasional suppliers or HQ. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.  

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
