We are searching for our founding economist to build and lead our behavioral science capabilities from the ground up, crafting innovative strategies to solve complex challenges, shaping the organizations decision-making frameworks, and driving measurable impact across critical areas of the business. 

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and oversee the execution of behavioral research initiatives to uncover customer insights and drive decision management 

  • Lead the design, analysis, and application of experiments and models to measure the impact of customer behaviors on business outcomes

  • Develop economic theory and deliver econometrics and machine learning models to unlock the new opportunities across Snap’s ecosystem

  • Partner with cross-team technical contributors (scientists, software engineers, product managers) to implement solutions in production

  • Drive the adoption of behavioral economics principles across the organization, delivering actionable recommendations to improve engagement, retention, and growth

  • Communicate research findings effectively to stakeholders and senior leadership, bridging technical concepts with business goals. 

  • Monitor emerging trends in behavioral economics and apply them to organizational challenges.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Expertise in behavioral economics, econometrics, and experimental design.

  • Deep understanding of predictive modeling and causal inference

  • Familiarity with large-scale data analysis tools and methodologies

  • Proficiency in data analysis software (R or Python)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Lead independent research projects and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Behavioral Economics, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in applying behavioral science principles to solve real-world problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in consumer technology or with consumer technology companies

  • Demonstrated success in designing experiments and analyzing their outcomes.

  • Proficiency with statistical software and tools for large-scale data analysis.

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $209,000-$313,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $199,000-$297,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $178,000-$266,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
