About the role

The Senior Investigations Analyst at Crunchyroll is dedicated to protecting the users and our platform from threats including: criminal organizations, exploitation, and scams/fraud. We are looking for an experienced, curious, and organized investigator.

You will deep dive into critical incidents, exploits, and abusive accounts using advanced investigative methods. You will work on some of the most challenging, complicated, and high-visibility risks we are facing.

You are experienced in leading investigations and communicating with leadership. You are experienced in analyzing diverse data sources to identify and disrupt threats. You are proficient in data analytics, SQL/Python, and technical investigative techniques.

  • Detect and Investigate Threats
    • Identify and document gaps in our data, defining requirements for new sources.
    • Find threats and undetected abuse using internal data, open-source intelligence, and third-party private intelligence.
    • Lead and document comprehensive investigations into fraud, abuse, and critical incidents.
    • Analyze large datasets to gather insights and identify trends to support findings.
  • Escalation and Communication
    • Collaborate to verify and escalate fraud and abuse exploits.
    • Communicate with senior leadership and Legal on incidents and investigations.
    • Maintain a structured approach to communication, coordination, and reporting for incidents.
  • Reporting and Insights
    • Create high-quality reports and executive briefings on abuse trends and investigative findings, ensuring clarity, visibility, and action.
    • Establish KPIs, dashboards, alerting, and reporting of anomalous activity.
  • Prevention and Enforcement
    • Collaborate to design and implement detection and enforcement strategies to reduce and detect harm.
      Develop policies, procedures, and other documentation relating to investigations.
  • Research and Continuous Improvement
    • Conduct ongoing research into the latest trends, tools, and methodologies to enhance platform abuse monitoring and uphold industry leadership.

You will report to the Director, Trust and Safety.

We are considering applicants for the locations of Los Angeles or Dallas.

About You

We get excited about candidates, like you, because...

  • 5+ years of work experience in cyber security, private sector security investigations, and intelligence, government, and intelligence.
  • Solid investigation, data science or analytics, and documentation experience.
  • Experience with Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT)
  • Familiarity with cyber threats, attacks, and organized crime relating to fraud, abuse, and scams.
  • Experience working with SQL, Python (Pandas, Spark), R or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience querying databases and large-scale data analysis (Datadog, Databricks, AWS).
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with partners and leaders.
  • BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Intelligence Studies, Cybersecurity, or related field.

Our mission is to ensure Crunchyroll remains a trusted and secure platform by detecting and responding to fraud and abuse. The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time-off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
