What’s so great about working on Calendly’s Engineering team? You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the foundational services and capabilities that support our engineering teams and drive the success of our products. You will leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership skills to influence platform architecture; guide engineering practices and execution; and ensure the resiliency, scalability, and performance of our platform.

Why do we need you? You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, IAM in this role.

A day in the life of a Senior Full Stack Engineer, IAM at Calendly

The Calendly platform is a monolith that is being decomposed into various services in order for us to scale our platform and team. We need ambitious, experienced engineers who can help us drive this stage of growth. As an engineer at Calendly, you will both build new features and work to scale our platform and architecture. You will build tooling and automation to fine tune our delivery process as you grow into a service oriented specialist. You will also learn to work with multiple technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Go, Node, TypeScript, Rails, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, and more.

When you join Calendly, you get the opportunity to deliver on a product used by millions and known for its best-in-class quality. Help us continue to deliver critical features to our users with excellence.

On a typical day, you will:

  • Collaborate within your team to build new features within the Identity & Access Management domain
  • Contribute to platform scaling initiatives to ensure our foundational services meet requirements of scalability, reliability, and security
  • Meet regularly with Product and Design to collaborate on requirements and overall roadmap
  • Attend agile ceremonies to help your team plan and execute their work
  • Work across squads to improve Engineering practices at Calendly and drive adoption of our shared services and components
  • Review implementation plans and pull requests from your peers and offer feedback and recommendations to ensure we’re building things in the right way
  • Mentor and coach other team members

What do we need from you?

  • 7+ years of Software Development experience at a SaaS or technology company
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing
  • Experience performing a major architectural refactor; bonus if you have experience refactoring a monolithic application into microservices
  • Experience building, operating, and maintaining high-traffic, high-availability platforms and systems
  • Solid understanding of secure IAM solutions, including Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication, Role-Based Access Control, and Privileged Access Management
  • Experience with identity federation solutions (e.g., using SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect) to enable seamless authentication between different systems
  • Experience with Node, Rails, or a comparable web-app development framework
  • A drive to craft clean, reliable and maintainable code
  • Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America as Calendly does not engage in immigration sponsorship at this time

What’s in it for you?
