Apollo’s GraphOS platform helps API platform developers around the world build and operate their data access layers at scale. Trusted by some of the world’s largest and most innovative companies, GraphOS fundamentally democratizes data and accelerates business transformation by enabling teams to manage, govern, and scale their GraphQL ecosystems with confidence.

Our GraphOS group builds the backbone of that platform- enabling teams to manage, govern, and scale their GraphQL ecosystems with confidence. We provide the core CI/CD workflows and robust APIs that power schema publishing, supergraph composition, validation, deployment, and operational excellence.

We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team delivering foundational capabilities across GraphOS—from evolving our Platform API and scaling our internal workflow engine, to shaping the future of schema registry and graph pipelines. This team sits at the core of how customers manage, validate, and deploy their supergraphs, with broad impact across both internal Apollo teams and external developers.

What You'll Do

  • Manage and coach a team of engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and aligning their work to the organization’s long-term vision.
  • Drive execution by scoping, prioritizing, and allocating resources to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions to both internal and external users.
  • Lead teams through ambiguity and change by providing clear direction, fostering alignment, and evolving team charters to meet business needs.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture grounded in trust, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with product, design, and engineering leadership to define roadmaps, shape technical direction, and deliver robust, reliable platform capabilities.
  • Champion operational excellence, driving reliability, observability, and production readiness across the systems your team owns.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team environment based on trust, autonomy, and psychological safety.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to define hiring strategies, and actively attract and retain top engineering talent.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as necessary.

Who You Are

  • You thrive in leading through complexity and ambiguity, making informed decisions and prioritizing effectively.
  • You have a track record of successfully leading teams through change by refining their focus, shaping team charters, and aligning priorities to meet evolving business needs.
  • You care deeply about people and find motivation in helping others succeed.
  • You’ve worked in platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling domains, and you enjoy building foundational systems and APIs that empower other teams.
  • You have strong product and user instincts and care deeply about the developer experience.
  • You have a strong grasp of system design and architecture principles, allowing you to guide technical discussions and support teams in making sound trade-offs for performance, reliability, and scale.
  • You have a growth mindset, continually seeking to learn and improve your leadership.
  • You embody the leadership principles of creating clarity, unlocking performance, and delivering results.
  • You are a thoughtful leader with experience in hiring, coaching and retaining engineering talent with diverse needs for personal and professional growth.

Whether you binge-watch a series on Netflix, plan faraway vacations from your phone, or read international news online, you’ve likely used Apollo’s technology this week. Apollo supports some of the largest GraphQL platforms in the world.
