GRAIL is seeking a Senior Director of International Business Development for our Commercial Team. This role will be responsible for establishing distribution partnerships in key global markets to significantly expand Galleri volume internationally in 2027, 2028, and beyond, complementing our U.S. sales efforts. Partnerships will align with GRAIL’s values and brand while requiring minimal
additional investment from GRAIL. This critical leadership role combines strategy, hands-on contributions, team building, and mentorship. The position requires seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams, including the international partnership implementation team and other GRAIL functions. With demonstrated success, this role will have the opportunity to build and lead a dedicated business development team.
The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise and business insight to forge innovative partnerships, business models, and alliances that deliver GRAIL’s MCED technology to populations worldwide, advancing our mission of improving human health.
Responsibilities
- Identify and prioritize potential distributor markets and delivery partners.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence in conjunction with cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, Corporate Development, Regulatory, Quality, Lab Ops, Software).
- Collaborate with the President, International, to negotiate and secure partnership agreements in multiple markets.
- Partner with the international implementation team to ensure agreements are feasible, successfully executed, and meet established targets.
- Develop strategic models for licensing GRAIL’s MCED technology in additional international markets.
- Work with the Corporate Development team to explore partnerships for GRAIL’s MRD assets.
- Build, lead, and mentor a skilled, effective business development team.
- Achieve revenue and partnership targets through accurate forecasting, tracking, and execution.
- Promote international awareness through networking, conferences, speaking engagements, and regular partner visits.
- Serve as an active ambassador and leader within and beyond GRAIL to support the company’s ongoing success.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in business development, international partnerships, or a similar role within the biotechnology, healthcare, or life sciences industry.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating and structuring international distribution or licensing agreements.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with revenue forecasting, P&L management, and strategic planning.
- Deep understanding of regulatory requirements and market dynamics in international healthcare.
- Familiarity with MCED or molecular diagnostics technology is a plus.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams and cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and lead high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and serve as an effective ambassador for GRAIL’s mission.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a results-oriented approach in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Expected full time annual base pay scale for this position is $208k-277k. Actual base pay will consider skills, experience and location.
Based on the role, colleagues may be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan tied to company and individual performance, or an incentive plan. We also offer a long-term incentive plan to align company and colleague success over time.
