About Us

Twitch is the world’s biggest live streaming service, with global communities built around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking, and more. It is where thousands of communities come together for whatever, every day.

We’re about community, inside and out. You’ll find coworkers who are eager to team up, collaborate, and smash (or elegantly solve) problems together. We’re on a quest to empower live communities, so if this sounds good to you, see what we’re up to on LinkedIn and X,  and discover the projects we’re solving on our Blog. Be sure to explore our Interviewing Guide to learn how to ace our interview process.

About the Team

Twitch is all about community, and our Community Team is a core pillar of what makes Twitch, Twitch. Teams within Community are responsible for a myriad of product areas impacting the creator, viewer, and moderator journeys on our platform. As a member of our team, you'll help build solutions that improve the experience of millions of daily active users on our platform and create tools that keep both streamers and viewers engaged and connected.

About the Role

Data is central to Twitch's decision-making process, and data scientists are critical in evangelizing data-driven decision making across all our operations. As a data science manager at Twitch, you will work on the ground floor with your team, shaping how product performance is measured, defining which questions should be asked, and scaling analytics methods and tools to support our growing business, leading the way for high-quality, high-velocity decisions for your team.

For this role, we're looking for an experienced product data science manager to lead a data science team focused on developing strategy and evaluating/improving product initiatives within our Community Product organization. Community Product organizations develop tools across various platforms for creators and viewers, as well as strengthening our recommendation system. Your team will be responsible for defining and tracking KPIs, designing experiments, evaluating A/B tests, implementing data instrumentation, and informing investment decisions. Our ideal candidate is a "full-stack" data powerhouse who uses data to drive decision making to create the best products for our creators and their communities. You will work closely with engineers, applied scientists, designers, UXR, and product managers. You'll elevate the understanding and capabilities of cross-functional stakeholders and guide them toward better decision making from the available data.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA.

You Will:

  • Hire and develop a growing team of analysts
  • Establish the vision and roadmap for the team, prioritize the most impactful analyses, and guide the team in solving ambiguous and complex problems
  • Influence our overall product strategy; drive key product decisions through data and insights; set goals and KPIs and identify the right levers to achieve those goals
  • Advocate for your data verticals by contributing to business cases that drive prioritization and proactively identify new trends and opportunities in your space
  • Cultivate relationships with cross-functional partners across engineering, product, applied science, and design to remove roadblocks, provide insight, and execute high-impact projects to reduce harm to the Twitch community
  • Help the team prioritize and execute in the face of ambiguity: work with stakeholders and mentors to distill problems, adapt your tools to answer complicated questions, and identify the trade-offs between speed and quality of different approaches
  • Act as our team's thought leader on best practices and move toward a long-term vision of sustainable and thriving data processes

You Have:

  • 7+ years of experience (or MS with 5+ years) in data science or analytics roles
  • 2+ years of people management experience, managing data scientists and data analysts
  • Experience in partnering with product teams to define goals, metrics, and experiments
  • Track record of guiding teams through unstructured technical problems to deliver business impact
  • Full-stack experience across data science, analytics, and data engineering
  • Graduate (PhD preferred) degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Prior work on recommendation systems
  • Expert SQL skills and proficiency in Python/R

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with Twitch, either as a viewer or creator (or both!)

Perks

  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount
