* Job Summary
* The primary purpose of this position is to actively participate in the design, integration, and delivery of a wide range of technology solutions to clients. This position will also provide mentorship, guidance and technical leadership to engineers and associate engineers. Integrate and deliver a wide range of technology solutions providing high quality content deliverables ensuring solution is implemented as designed to the client's satisfaction and approval.
* What you will do:
* Conduct advanced and complex engineering-related studies researching current and emerging technologies, evaluates alternatives, makes recommendations, and presents reports to management.
* Regularly interface with technical and business staff of customers, including the project sponsor and stakeholders of projects in more complex engagements. Mentor other engineers to apply engineering background knowledge for project design, analysis, and project coordination of services or products.
* Work with Customers, Project Managers, Professional Services Managers, and Sales team members to manage expectations and timelines to ensure expectations and commitments are being met.
* Maintain client relationships as a trusted Technical Advisor. Serve as a collaborative support across internal teams and clients when necessary, using experience and judgment to communicate effectively to all parties. Serve as technical point of contact on customer engagements. Participate in a variety of sales activities.
* What we expect of you:
* The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience. They should have at least 5 years of experience in delivering complex technical solutions, including planning, development, implementation, and support.
* The candidate must demonstrate the ability to multitask and prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to manage and escalate technical issues to the appropriate vendor support team.
* The candidate should possess strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and follow-up skills. They should have the ability to perform advanced installation and configuration services as well as troubleshooting issues that arise during implementations. Knowledge of vendor-supplied brands is also required.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, with the ability to effectively interact with leadership stakeholders and clients. The candidate should maintain a professional, business-focused attitude and courteous manner towards clients, partners, and peers.
* The candidate should have a history of balancing competing priorities with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines. They should have demonstrated experience applying lessons learned to unique problems and a history of reskilling on new technologies with the ability to determine benefits for clients.
* The candidate must be able and willing to work beyond their regularly scheduled shift, select weekends, overtime as necessary or on occasion to meet operational needs. They should have the ability and willingness to travel as needed to client sites. A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
* The candidate should have a proven track record of implementing IBM Power Servers in both large and small environments.
* The candidate should be able to assist a solution architect to scope required services and estimate number of hours needed to complete the tasks associated with the scope of work.
* The candidate should be able to work independently performing system installations and migrations.
* The candidate should have extensive experience with the IBM AIX Operating System at V6.1 and V7.x.
* The candidate will have extensive experience installing, customizing, managing and upgrading Virtual IO servers (VIOs) on IBM Power supporting AIX, Linux and IBMi LPARs.
* The candidate will have experience performing both firmware and Operating system upgrades on an AIX platform using various media and alternate disk procedures.
* The candidate will have experience using AIX Network Install Manager (NIM) servers to perform AIX upgrades, updates, patching and installations on multiple AIX systems.
* The candidate must have experience installing and configuring hardware management consoles (HMCs).
* The candidate will have experience performing system and AIX LPAR migrations between IBM Power using Live Partition Mobility (LPM) and/or storage migrations.
* The candidate will have experience performing IBM Power Health Checks, IBM Power Security Assessments, and IBM Power Performance Assessments.
* The candidate will have experience backing up, restoring and cloning AIX OS instances.
* The ideal candidate will also have one or more of these additional skills:
* Installing and managing Red Hat and SUSE Linux distributions on IBM Power platforms
* Creating, cloning and/or migrating LPAR profiles using command line scripts and/or a tool such as the IBM Provisioning Toolkit
* Korn shell and/or Bash shell scripting
* Implementing storage subsystems from IBM, DellEMC and Pure connected to an IBM Power Server running the AIX and Linux Operating Systems.
* Implementing IBM PowerHA SystemMirror on AIX systems.
* IBM PowerVS Setup and Migration skills
* Implementing PowerVC on a Linux or AIX platform.
* Implementing PowerSC on a Linux or AIX platform.
