Today, 60 million Americans living in rural communities are facing a crisis of access to care. In the U.S. healthcare system, rural Americans experience significantly poorer clinical outcomes. This trend is rapidly accelerating as rural hospitals close and physician shortages increase, exacerbating health disparities. In fact, Americans living in rural communities suffer a mortality rate 23 percent higher than those in urban communities, in part because of the lack of access to quality care.
Our vision is care that enables everyone to achieve their best health. So, we’re creating a new healthcare delivery model that is purpose-built for rural America and directly addresses the issues that have historically limited access and quality. Homeward supports Medicare-eligible beneficiaries by partnering with health plans, providers, and communities to align incentives – taking full financial accountability for clinical outcomes and the total cost of care across rural counties.

Homeward is co-founded by a leadership team that defined and delivered Livongo’s products, and backed most recently by a $50 million series B co-led by Arch Ventures and Human Capital, with participation from General Catalyst for a total of $70 million in funding. The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Communications Associate with 3-5 years of experience to join our team. This person will play a key role in supporting media relations, storytelling, and thought leadership initiatives to enhance our company’s brand and visibility. The ideal candidate has agency or in-house healthcare communications experience, strong writing and organizational skills, and a passion for elevating mission-driven narratives.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Maintain and update media lists, identifying key journalists and publications for targeted outreach.
  • Monitor media coverage and industry trends, providing insights to inform storytelling and strategy.
  • Manage company social media channels, creating engaging content, monitoring performance, and staying current with platform trends.
  • Assist in developing compelling story ideas, drafting press materials, talking points, and media pitches.
  • Contribute to messaging frameworks, FAQs, and thought leadership content that supports key initiatives.
  • Draft and support the creation of press releases, award applications, and speaking proposals.
  • Manage a calendar of media, award, and speaking opportunities, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Support performance analysis through media monitoring reports, tracking impact and engagement.
  • Continuously research healthcare trends, media landscape shifts, and opportunities to elevate brand visibility.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.
  • Healthcare communications experience is required (agency or in-house).
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to distill complex topics into compelling narratives.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools (e.g., Meltwater, Muck Rack) and developing media reports.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare landscape, industry trends, and media landscape.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive approach and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Google products (Gmail, Slides, Sheets); experience with project management tools is a plus.

Compensation: $77,400 - $90,900 annually. Salary is based on qualifications, experience, skill set, and location.
