As a Senior Back-End Engineer on the Virtual Travel Agent team, you will play an important role in developing and maintaining our innovative virtual travel agent (Ava). This groundbreaking product leverages Large Language Models (LLMs) and proprietary technology to revolutionize how corporate travel & expense is managed. You will work collaboratively with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, and product managers to build scalable and efficient backend systems.

What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and/or TypeScript
- Integrate with LLMs and other AI technologies to enhance the virtual travel agent's capabilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement features
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards
- Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high code quality
- Optimize backend systems for scalability, performance, and reliability
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process and team practices
- Embrace a data-driven approach to development, using metrics and user feedback to guide feature enhancements and system improvements
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in software development and AI
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in backend software development using Java and/or TypeScript
- Experience in building server-side APIs
- Familiarity with AWS
- Insatiable curiosity and drive to learn and grow
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to new technologies, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for building innovative and impactful products
- Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) is a plus
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
